It is NOT addiction like the person above stated - it is called Delerium Tremors - and you can have DTs and NOT be addicted to alcohol.

DTs are caused from the quick reduction in the amount of alcohol in a persons body after a couple days of heavy drinking. See the link below.

It's actually called delirium tremens or DTs. It is the result of the alcohol level in your blood dropping. It can result in shaking, rapid pulse, high blood pressure, extreme aggression, fever, psycosis, and seizures among other things. Chronic alcohol drinkers should gradually reduce the amount of alcohol consumed over time. Never stop drinking suddenly after long-term alcohol consumption without the care of a doctor.

I also agree that its addiction. When your body is used in drinking excessive alcohol and then for days you stopped, your body will react and will try to adapt. It takes a lot of patience because you may experience something like, you are looking for an alcohol beverage to drink. I hope that somehow, I helped you...Good day!!!

It's called "addiction". Same thing happens when people try to quit smoking cigarettes, or when someone tries to get clean after doing heroin... I know from trying to quit smoking, I got very shaky and VERY depressed, it was quite an experience, and I couldn't handle it.
