Best thing to do is wait until your scalp is heeled and shave that hair off. It is permantly damage, so you will have to start all over again. Next time you'll read the directions or get a proffesional to do it. I hope your not the type of person that looks bad bald.

Rome don't try to fix this on your own anymore...this is serious!
Go to a salon, today...just walk in and tell them you need to see someone today, not so much to do your hair but to advice you on your next step...I also think it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to a 24 hour pharmacy and speak with the pharmacist on duty...forget making the hair look better...that hair is damaged babe...now you need to think about your scalp and repairing it...the next time you get a perm go to the salon and make sure they do what is called "basting"...this is simply parting your hair in small sections and putting grease on the scalp as to serve as a barrier that protects it from burning so easily...I think that's why you are so badly burnt b/c you had hair that had never been chemically treated and then you put a perm (or relaxer rather) in it. There are rules to getting a relaxer like don't comb or wash your hair for a certain amount of hours (I think it's 24) before getting a perm, and put grease on that scalp and around your edges to protect your skin from the chemical and also a relaxer really shouldn't burn, but if it does that means get it out NOW!!! Seek professional attention now...

chemical burns are the worst. do not use anymore shampoo or conditioner as they contain perfumes and will irritate it further.
I suggest that you see a Dr. who will likely recommend an ointment to heal it.
if the hair is plastered down it may be pus and if the scalp is open it could get infected
I wouldn't suggest running clippers or a blade over it either as this will may really hurt you
rinsing with cool water may help but I would try any home remedies for this, if it isn't treated right it could scar and the may not grow back
sorry and good luck!
I had a chemical burn but not from sodium hydroxide ( some relaxers) and got perscription from the Dr. and some antibiotics. it healed just fine but took a while

My scalp was burnt in the sun last week. I used some Aloe Vera gel to soothe it until it healed. I know that sunburn is different to a chemical burn, but Aloe Vera is great for everything. Just make sure you get a good brand of gel as some only have a minute amount of aloe vera, and heaps of bad chemicals. I hope I have helped you, as I have suffered similar.
