The H and R franchise offices don't do it; just the corporate owned offices. So call ahead and ask your office. They need your ID and they run an application through a bank electronically. You typically have to have a refund of at least $1500 to qualify. The fees run about $200 plus their preparation fees.

First, do you really, really need the money today? If you file electronically and request direct deposit of your refund, you should have it in one to two weeks. I don't know what the current fee is, several years ago it was around fifteen dollars plus five percent. That works out to be an extremely huge annual percentage rate for just a couple of extra weeks.

They do do those, but the fees are exhorbitantly high. I've seen rates as high as 2,533% APR!

If you e-file and select Direct Deposit, your refund will often be in your bank account in a week or so. I got mine in 4 days last year.

Unless you're about to be evicted or need food for your children, wait the few extra days for Direct Deposit.
