Does anyone realize that The Davinci Code is not the only book about this? These books date back at least 40 years and more.

look up The Gospel of St. Thomas, it tells all about it.

" First, it must be said that nowhere in the New Testament does it state that Jesus was celibate. As a matter of fact, in Judaism an unmarried man is considered incomplete. Typically, all Jewish holy men – teachers and prophets alike – were married. It would have been highly unusual for a recognized rabbi (teacher) to be single. Originally, Christianity was a Jewish spiritual movement, and Jesus taught Jewish individuals primarily. Bearing that in mind, it would have been easier for students to accept that Jesus was married than to accept a rabbi unwilling or unable to sustain a marriage. This is quite the opposite of the unnatural view we have been lead to believe – that the union of Jesus with a wife and consort would somehow diminish his spiritual status. The truth is that it would have exalted him all the more, and this is precisely the Sophian view. "

" Question # 4 What are the unaltered records, the earliest records, that Teabing uses in the book to substantiate his theory?

They are of course The Gnostic Gospels. The were found in Nag Hammadi Egypt in 1945. There were 52 texts that were found, not 80. Of those 52 there are some interesting books in the collection. You can actually buy the Nag Hammadi Library and get all 52 texts if you want. There are books such as the secret book of James (brother of Jesus); the apocalypse of Paul; the Gospel of Thomas. As a matter of fact you can go to Barnes and Noble or Borders and buy the Gnostic gospels in hardback form. "

I've thought about the possibility of this relationship... it isn't backed up in history or in the bible...
The bible does say that Jesus did not sin.. and that he was tempted in every way... Adultery is a sin thought of by both married and single (in this case) men... And its very rare to find one man that has never thought about just smacking his wife one good time...
The bible says 'he who finds a wife finds a good thing;' The bible talks about the church being his bride in the end times... there are many ways to think about it...
Personally I think that it could have been possible... but Jesus would have been the best to teach about marriage if he was married... Peter is really the one who takes the helm of that particular message. The bible simply does not support that Jesus was married to anyone at all... much less Mary Magdalene.

There is no evidence that they were married.
The Gospel of Mary was written a few centuries after Jesus,by Gnostic writers who did not know Jesus or His followers. It is not a reliable historical account.
Face it people, the DaVinci Code is fiction, nothing more.
And yes,I know that the DaVinci Code is not the only book about it.But I could write a hundred books about 9/11,and make up a crackpot idea that the attacks were a sham, and it wouldn't make it true.

It's possible, though not probable. While it was the custom for a man of His age to be married, and was considered improper for an unmarried woman to consort with single men, it would not have been that unusual for someone of Jesus's calling. There were certainly mendicants in those days, and there were those of brahminical qualities, who would lead celibate lives, exist on charity, and perform good works as a sacrifice and example of Godliness. Jesus filled this description, and would not be expected to marry. Any woman He associated with would have been of the highest moral caliber, and above mundane suspicion, or else they would both have been accused of fornication.

No. They were not married, nothing close to it. Nowhere in the Bible is anything written about their being married The idea that they were married comes from man. Man, people who didn't know them and people that didn't live at that time. It's a fabricated, guess work, story. They were friends. I have friends. You have friends. That doesn't mean your married to them or intimate with them. Jesus died, rose from the dead, and ascended to Heaven. This was done in front of witnesses. No such thing as Jesus and Mary Magdalene taking off together. Just read the Bible. The story of Jesus is recorded there and see what is the truth about this story.

Jesus marriage is not mentioned in the Gospels. If Mary Magdalene was his wife, this detailed would have been included.

From a practical point of view, if Jesus was married, he would not have been able to wander the country side.

It is alluded to in the Gnostic texts, but there is nothing definitive, only that Jesus kissed her often. It takes a lot to conclude that they were married from that.

It is also interesting that one of the reason cited by Jews that they rejected Jesus as the Messiah is because the prophesy called for a human man, who is married and has children. There is a passage, although I don't remember where, that states that the Messiah passes down an inheritance to one of his children.

No I do not believe they were married. The Bible makes no mention of it. Jesus came here for a specific reason. From what I read in the Bible, He didn't have a "normal" childhood, because from a very early age He was in His Father's house about His business. I believe the Bible and I believe that Jesus knew how short his time here would be, so His focus was on the more important things.

no they were not. Davinci Code was a nice book. Interesting read. But it is fiction. I don't believe in Hogwarts and Quiddich either. Not worried Voldemort is really behind 9/11 or the war in Iraq. It is a book.
