you can communicate with people who only speak german. I really like german and i think it's a lot of fun to learn. I think knowning any other language that is commonly used is a good thing because especially if you go to germany or austria or any other german speaking country it'll be easier to get around.

Well, it helps the Germans from sitting around using sign language all day.
