It isn't. It's hogwash.

Non-material matter? Isn't that a contradiction?

Christ was called "son of man" so he had to have Mary as part of his makeup - born of man.
Likewise He was called "son of God" - but only worthy to be called that when he had overcome Satan and God said, "this is my beloved Son, this day have I begotten thee." Up until that point, God was with Him.
When Christ died, the fleshy, material part of him was was dissolved - being only a vessel of the Holy Spirit that was in Him and ruled him.
The part of him that remained and was glorified and ascended to heaven (the part of him that is now 'alive') is the original Holy Spirit of His Father. {Many verses speak of the Father in you, the Holy Spirit of the Father leading you, etc.}

Don't fall into the trap that so many other fall into. The 'analogy' of the miraculous fertilisation is limited and cannot be exactly explained by the physical event between a man and a woman. It is an analogy and not an exact type of the physical event There are some areas the analogy is not exact - but that is a long answer.

Is it hard to see that Mary's egg was made fertile by God, when He descended as the Holy Spirit? Supernatural miracles are numerous in the Bible. Don't limit God.

I think you have God and man confused God does not need science to create man. Christ was not born from a scientific nor a biological act but by a miracle of God.Edit to rh...the word in the Hebrew I believe translates to young maiden which was to be a sign to say a young woman was to conceive a child would not be much of a sign would it? The word young maiden shows she was not married if a young maiden had a child out of wedlock would she not be a harlot? and what sort of sign from God would that be? The word you maiden when attached to a sign from God and childbearing it is more than reasonable to assume virtue...and the case is sort of moot due to the fact this prophesy has been fulfilled by the virgin birth of Jesus Christ.

Is it possible to create the heavens and earth, and all life.
What is impossible for God?
John 1 we read that Jesus or God was made flesh..
1.In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2.The same was in the beginning with God.
3.All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

So God was made flesh,While still being all mighty omnipresent.
No seed of man was needed. The same way He made Adam, and all other life forums. Why question the birth of god? I mean if you were to question any thing i would think it would be on the order of the universe itself.

Peace be with you,

3:45 Lo! The angels said: "O Mary! Behold, God sends thee the glad tiding, through a word from Him, [of a son] who shall become known as the Christ ('The Anointed' (al-masih) Jesus, son of Mary, of great honour in this world and in the life to come, and [shall be] of those who are drawn near unto God.

3:46 And he shall speak unto men in his cradle, and as a grown man, and shall be of the righteous."

3:47 Said she: "O my Sustainer! How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me?" [The angel] answered: "Thus it is: God creates what He wills when He wills a thing to be, He but says unto it, 'Be' - and it is.

3:48 And he will impart unto thy son revelation, and wisdom, and the Torah, and the Gospel,

3:49 and [will make him] an apostle unto the children of Israel ." "I HAVE COME unto you with a message from your Sustainer. I shall create for you out of clay, as it were, the shape of [your] destiny, and then breathe into it, so that it might become [your] destiny by God's leave; and I shall heal the blind and the leper, and bring the dead back to life by God's leave;and I shall let you know what you may eat and what you should store up in your houses. Behold, in all this there is indeed a message for you, if you are [truly] believers.

So, since GOD is limitless, he simply says "BE" and it is.

It's called devine intervention. Let's imagine for a moment that God does exist; God is all-powerful and can manipulate the laws of nature in this world at will. Thus, instead of having intercorse with Mary, he snapped his fingers and said, "Let there be child," and at that moment a child was conceived.
That is, of course, if you believe in such fairy tales.

There was no prophesy in the Old Testament about a virgin birth, it was a young woman who was to give birth and she did in the very next chapter. The prophesy had nothing to do with Jesus. The virgin birth was just put in there to satisfy pagan converts and because Matthew was trying desperately to make his case that Jesus was the fulfillment of Jewish prophesy.

If you believe in God then you believe that Mary was impregnated by the Holy Spirit.
I used to say it was like God shot down His essense(Holy Spirit) and ta-da! Mary was prego.

Well let's see now God spoke and nothing became everything so I guess it would be easy to make a little sperm? I think? Yes. It would be relatively easy compared to creating the entire universe.

God created the universe out of nothing. He said "Be!" and it was. How was that possible? Any way God wanted it to be. The incarnation, like the creation, was a true miracle.

Remember, God says "Jump!", and every quark, photon, and electron in the universe says "How high?".
