Do you remember the Dr. Seuss story about the Star-Bellied Sneeches? People with flat feet are the sneeches with no stars on their belly.

Why do you need to do anything for her flat feet? It's genetic & can't be fixed or corrected. I have flat feet, and I've had no problem. As far as I'm concerned, it's only cosmetic. I outran everybody in the mile in school and I've never tripped in my life. Read the section titled "attitudes" at the link below.

Quoting the source:

"One study of 287 Israeli Defense Force recruits found that those with high arches suffered almost four times as many stress fractures as those with the lowest arches. One later study of 449 US naval special warfare trainees found no significant difference in the incidence of stress fractures among soldiers with different arch heights and another was inconclusive.

"Many of the fastest runners--including Olympic record-setters--have had totally flat feet with no arch at all. The choice of proper footwear, i.e. motion-control shoes, can be helpful, but other flatfooted Olympians have run the course barefooted."

I have extremely flat feet, and have no arch what so ever. Go to the doctor, and get the special inserts they make, me and my brother both have them and they help. There are also excercises she can. Have her stand up straight facing a wall about a foot a way, then have her put her hands flat on the wall keeping her legs straight, is should almost look like a vertical pushup. The excercise is meant to stretch the calves and heel, she should feel the sensation in those areas, do this everyday for ten seconds each leg, and it should help, but there is no complete cure other than surgery, which i opted out of.

You need to take her to podiatrist or pedorthist to have some arch supports made for her. You will have to buy all of her shoes at a good shoe store where they will fit her with shoes that have good arch support. They will not be cheap but it is the only way to help here. Arch supports are the only thing you can do for her so see a podiatrist and then take her to a good shoe store for good shoes.
