From what Pilate already say and heard about Jesus, he already knew the truth. Jesus did not bother to answer a stupid question.

Jesus time on earth was done. He did what He was sent here to do and He needed to finish His task, which included death on the cross for our sins. Pilate found no fault in Jesus, because there is NO fault in Him. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

Perhaps He did answer, but it was edited from inclusion. Did you ever wonder why so little of what Jesus taught actually made it into the Bible? I did. If you compiled a book containing ONLY the words of Jesus, you would have the equivalent of a few hours conversation, not the 3 years of His ministry to the Jews, not to mention his travels before that, or after that. Instead, we have writings compiled after His death, by persons who were not even present when He was alive, and attributed to people who denied Him while He was alive. Something. Is. Missing. Here.

Pilate was for Jesus not against him. Jesus knew he had to die on the cross to save us so he just didn't answer. He also knew no matter what he done the Jewish leaders were going to somehow get him killed, for he was teaching the people that they did not need the leaders to save their souls. At any time Jesus could have taken his life and destroyed the whole earth but with one word. He did not have to die, he let them kill him so he could save all who believed in him and so every one could have their body upon the Resurrection.

. And Jesus stood in the previous the governor - many stuff are left out via Matthew, in the account of this trial, that are recorded via the different evangelists. a much extra finished account is cutting-edge in Joh_18:28-40. And the governor asked him ... - this question became into asked subsequently of the “cost” which the Jews introduced against Jesus, “of perverting the country, and forbidding to offer tribute to Caesar,” Luk_23:2. It became into in this might charge that, after consultation, that they had agreed to arraign him in the previous Pilate. See the notes at Mat_27:a million. “They” had condemned him for “blasphemy,” yet they nicely knew that Pilate might altogether dismiss an accusation of that form. They for this reason tried to replace a very distinctive accusation from that on which that they had professed to discover him accountable, to excite the jealousy of the Roman governor, and you purchased his dying on a cost of treason against the Roman emperor. Thou sayest - this is, thou sayest the superb option, or thou sayest the fact. We might ask your self why the Jews, in the event that they heard this confession, did no longer press it upon the attention of Pilate as an entire confession of his guilt. It became into what that they had accused him of. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it would desire to be uncertain regardless of if, in the confusion, they heard the confession; or, in the event that they did, Jesus took away all social gathering of triumph via explaining to Pilate the “nature” of his kingdom, Joh_18:36. nonetheless he recognized that he became right into a king, yet he reported totally that “his kingdom became into no longer of this international,” and that for this reason it would desire to no longer be alleged against him as treason against the Roman emperor. This became into completed “in the palace,” different than for the Jews, and totally chuffed Pilate of his innocence, Joh_18:23. .
