Scientifically, your body shuts down because you have overloaded it with too much alcohol to metabolize, so your body is constantly digesting, but not getting any energy from the digestion of the alcohol. Your whole body simply shuts itself off, or tries to anyways, to protect itself. Alcohol is a depressant which slows down the functions your body performs on a normal basis, this includes breathing, heartbeat, brain communicating with nerves etc. it also causes your muscles to relax as well. all these effects combine together when alcohol is consumed in large amounts, and the result is the body shutting itself down.

Otherwise, I'd just say you were soft and couldn't handle your liquor! :)

Cause weve had too much to drink and alcohol impairs your judgement and makes your brain react slower which is perhaps the reason why we get so tired and eventually just pass out.

Alcohol molecules are small enough to pass through our digestive lining, kidneys n liver direct into our bloodstream.
Unlike carbohydrate molecules which need to be digested first into simple sugars like glucose.

Alcohol in our blood stream enters our brain and effects it.
You can see that alcohol in moderate amounts can still impair our movements and thinking.
Too much of this and our brain shuts down.
Not to mention the scars it leaves on our liver or kidney.

Different people have different alcohol TOLERANCE.
Hence, even though you may see some ppl may handle their alcohol VERY well, you can't see the effects on their organs.
This explains liver circhosis(scarring) n kidney failure for alcoholism.

This is just a simple explanation..any mistakes is mine. :)

We don't know the exact mechanisms that cause people to pass out when they drink too much.

One theory is that alcohol causes passing out by its effects as a vaso-dilator (it lowers our blood pressure) (see reference below).

Generally, alcohol is a drug that depresses the central nervious system. A lot of "passing out" is just the early onset of sleep.

For the same reason we pass out from heat stroke...

Alcohol dehydrates the human body. When you're dehydrated, the body shuts down non-essential functions... like standing up and being concious.

This is why drinkin LARGE quantities of water during any alcohol-nights will help prevent passing out as well hangovers. Of course, with everything 'bad for you', moderation is key.

But we pass out because we're dehydrated and it takes LOTS of water for our liver to filter out the impurities that alcohol causes to our system.

It's natures way of keeping you from doing any more things that you will regret later. Specially if your friends took video or pics. It can get pretty ugly.
