I will fly to the U.S.A for the first time and alone. I am very concerned about getting lost among the huge airports that I will transit.

Could you give me some tips to avoid getting lost, and to know where to find my next plane?

Normally the major airports have good signs. My advice is: as soon as you leave your plane, either check your next flight at the airport monitors or ask the flight personnal.

The good tip is: before doing anything (shopping, eating), find your next gate and confirm your next flight showing your ticket to the person at the counter. After confirming and having some time do all the rest around where your flight is leaving.

It is very common (mainly in the US) to the gates be changed all the time, so keep an eye on the monitors too. In case of doubt don't be afraid to ask (information kiosks are also useful).

I missed a flight once and I promised myself I would try hard to never have that same stress again.

Good luck

On almost every airplane, there is a magazine with a list of airport maps in the back. Depending on where you are travelling, there should be a map to guide you. In the airport, there are big tv monitors that show when flights arrive and depart. Also, the flight attendants will be glad to help you find the info you need. You will be just fine. Just be sure to be aware of the packing rules before heading out.

There are always people willing to help you find your way. Just make sure they have on a uniform when you ask for help.
