I am taking a photography course and I need an inexspensive digital camera with these features. The instructor recommended Canon PowerShot G5 or G6 both they appear to be exspensive at 500-700 dollars. I would appreciate suggestions of model that fit this criteria.

* 4 Megapixel (or higher) Sensor Resolution
* Manual Mode
* Auto Mode
* AV - Aperture Priority
* TV - Shutter Speed Priority
* Built-in Flash
* White Balance Control
* Scene Specific Exposure Mode/Compensation

Have you looked at the Canon PowerShot A620? You can find it all over the net if you want to check it out. It has all over the features you listed and can be bought for $300 or below.

Good luck!

Go to a camera shop and take a look at the Nikon D40 with the kit lens, and the Nikon D50 with the kit lens; if you're still NOT sure, then go see the Canon S3 iS. See the prices and check with www.bhphotovideo.com and also with www.adorama.com and see which shop has the better price.

An alternative would be to get a good used Nikon D70S with the kit lens. You will learn so much! Also, you will want to keep this camera for a few years. It's used but... it's still a great camera. Check with www.keh.com and be ready to buy as soon as you see what you want because their products do not stay on the shelves very long! IF you do not see what you want, go back a couple of days later; they're constantly getting in new merchandise.

Best wishes.

definately look at the panasonic lumix fz7. its 6 mp it has manual mode and manual focus. you can find it for $250. buy a $40 1gb sd and you're set to take 300 pics! it has all the features you want and more! i use the older fz5 and its amazing! it rivals my father-in-law's rebel xt with the $1000 sigma lense he has! go to www.dpreview.com for samples and reviews of other cameras. if you dont like my suggestion you'll find one there that you'll like, but i gauntee you cant go wrong with the panasonic. GOOD LUCK!

I would recommend looking at the Nikon D40 or D50.

Otherwise - I would recommend the Fuji S5200 or S6000 or the Panasonic Lumix P&S models.

Go to www.cnet.com and view the cameras with the specs you like. Read the reviews. and see the price ranges. It's a great site to look at for new or other products. It helps me a lot in my decision making.

You should compare the feature and price of each brand.
I use Panasonic Lumix , it 's ok for me and have all features you want .

but Cannon powershot SD900 is also great both price and feature.
