There are many misconceptions about us, and opinions that satan uses to blind people with, he is succeeding too, but Jesus did say to his desciples in (John15:20) A slave is not greater than his master, if they have persecuted me, they will persecute you also....because they do not know him that sent me. Don't be disturbed there are many lies against Jehovah's Witnesess just like there were against Jesus and even Jehovah himself, it is what satan vowed to do and he is doing just so! Bear in mind Jesus himself was not only tortured he was persecuted, called a blaspheemer, he was killed and all this in exchange for a criminal, and even though his teachings were truth they were presented by other religions as false, since these things happened to Jesus, just like Jesus said these things are happening to his followers also.and compare(2Corinthians4:4).I had a similar experience at work with a coworker found out I was a witness she would stare at me strangely as if I were a strange beingand if I lookes up she would instantly look away, this went on for a couple of weeks, but after a while she realised that I was just a normal person and she started to treat me like a friend, she told me that herpastor or preacher told their congregation not to read our literature, but she still ended up taking some from me, of course aftyer I left she even followed me to another job and wanted to stay friends, since this was quite a few years back, eventually we lost contact, she was a penticostal and kept going to her church hoping to get healed because she had a problem pain in her face, she kept going so she might get healed even though it never happened for her she said that was because she lacked faith, yet really thinking about things now she really was not lacking faith at all, otherwise she would have given up no, but it was faith that kept her going back, if she lacked it then she would have stoped going stoped believing, well that is what I figure but it shows just why people are confused against us.It is because they listen to others opinions that are far from the truth and do not check out wether those opinions are right or not!

Consider what people thought about the first Christians, some 1900 years ago.

They were people who went door to door, telling their Jewish brethren that their rituals, beliefs, and holidays, dating back hundreds of years, were no longer valid. Highly educated individuals in the religious arts, such as Saul of Tarsus, could prove that this new Jewish Sect was a cult.

It was made up of lower (working) class individuals, like a Fisherman (Peter) and a Tax Collector (Matthew) who lacked any education, let alone one in religion. And worse, they were following the teachings of a lower class Carpenter (Jesus).

They were writing their own scriptures (Bible) and not sticking with the ones that had sustained the Jews for nearly 2000 years. It was a Bible that matched their beliefs and not those of their brethren Jews.

Any of this sound familiar?

With all his education, Saul could not see that the Truth was being taught house to house.

It took the appearance of Christ, blinding him, for him to see the light. We now know him as the Apostle Paul.

This is what Jehovah’s Witnesses represent.

Every witness becomes a legal minister and not just the elite who get paid to do it. A simple window washer can become a servant and be a Congregation Overseer, a Circuit or District Servant, or sit on the Governing Board. No, they will not have their names enshrined on building, a church, or in some book, nor will they get paid, but they will be do something to benefit all mankind.

The Churches of Christendom present a better argument for a cult than the Witnesses. A single individual gets paid to tell a large group what they are to believe. They don’t teach them to be ministers, as Christ instructed, and they ignore the admonishments against involvement in the affairs of the world and keeping the congregation clean.

As for the NWT Bible, people need to find something better than the King James Version to compare to. It was created because the Geneva Bible was considered too strict. The memory of King James was immortalized on it because he prevented the men working on the new version from being put to death by the Roman Catholic Church. It took them 150 years and revised it four times, before it matched the beliefs of the Church of England enough to be AUTHORIZED. The same church whose Bishop said that severely handicap children should be allowed to die at birth, just six months ago.

Counterfeit Christianity is probably the best description I can give for a cult. Counterfeit Christianity is an imitation of real Christianity. Bible terms like "Jesus Christ, Resurrection, Salvation, and Atonement" are used by the Cult, but the various cult groups have assigned entirely different meanings to these terms.
Like counterfeit money which is sometimes difficult to detect, so it is difficult to detect counterfeit Christianity, since it looks like the real thing. Experts examining counterfeit money often hold it up to a strong light and look for identifying marks. Counterfeit Christianity also has identifying marks, which can be seen when, held up to an even stronger light, the light of God's word, the bible.
We are at an advantage if we know what to expect from a cult. Cultists are very well trained to appear "Christian", and indeed believe they are the true churches, and you need the deliverance! Therefore, be bold and ask the question, "do you believe the group you represent is the only true church on the face of the earth?"
If they reply that they are, or if they are evasive, making remarks like "Well, every church has a measure of truth but...", you have made an early detection of a Cultist.
Every true Christian, if asked the same question, regardless of his denomination, would reply that the true church is comprised of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and HE (not some organization) is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, (John 14:6). No legitimate denomination would claim that they alone and their members have salvation exclusively, but the cults (the counterfeits) do.

It is true that Jehovah's Witnesses are not loved by everyone, and that many groups actively work to spread falsehoods about them.
http://jw-media.org/newsroom/human_rights.htm
Some people hate Jehovah's Witnesses out of ignorance, or over some misunderstanding. A few may have had a bad personal experience with an individual who claimed to be a Jehovah's Witness, and prejudicially extended their animus to this entire Christian religion.

However, it seems that the majority of anti-Witness hatred is motivated by religious intolerance and bigotry. A few may even be motivated against their Christian worship by the unseen 'god of this system of things', Satan the Devil.

(2 Corinthians 4:4) the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers

Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:

(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.

(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

Let me ask you a simple question? When does the end times start?

Then read Acts 1:7.

Follow by 1 Cor 10:23-24.

It isn't that the other Christians go against the teaching of Jehovah Witnesses, but because the teaching of Jehovah Witnesses go against Christianity.

So the next time you knock on someone doors, try getting the message right.

The are 613 commandments in the first covenant between God and Israel (Jacob and his descendants). None of them applies to the Christians. Moreover Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, birthdays are not ban as well.

Sometimes when one group has a dissagreement with another group, they like to manufacture more reasons for the dissagreement, especially if they are getting their information second-hand. That doesn't mean the initial reason for the dissagreement was necissarily illigitimate, however.

Though some Christians are againts the teachings of JWs simply because "they were told they were bad", others actually read the Bible and bother to make their own decisions with some critical thinking. JWs teachings contradict the Bible. They teach that Jesus is not God but the archangel Michael (or maybe it was Gabriel, I don't remember), when Jesus Himself claimed to be God (John 8:58). This is the main doctrine I know of that sets them apart from most other Christians.

I myself have heared alot of claims as to what JWs believe, but I haven't gotten much info from the 'horse's mouth', and I am not thuroughly versed on JW beliefs, so I don't want to risk making any unfair assertions. But concerning the diety of Christ, which is a very important issue, there is a very significant dissagreement.

I do not know much about Jehovah Witness, feel free to enlighten me. I am Non-denominational Christian... I wasn't taught this by my church, more like word of mouth from many other people,of different races & religions...

1. That JW do not believe Jesus is God.

2. You do not celebrate any non-religious holidays, even birthdays!
3. That if you could somehow by your own means stop sinning that your physical body would never die or get sick.

Those are just a few things that I have heard, I don't know if that is the truth or not, but that is very different from what my chruch (a Bible Chapel) teaches!

because the JW believe all are a god... when in fact we are not.

because the JW believe only 144,000 will be in heaven for all eternity. (Question is what 144,000 out of their millions of followers will be in heaven?)

because the JW are a "cult" organization.

When I was a child, we had children from the JW raising that could NOT partake in birthday parties, school events like Valentine's Day party... etc... the little girls had their eye brows shaved off, their eye lashes plucked out... sorry that is NOT a group I would want to be associated with. And, it was NOT the church that taught the things you mentioned... the JW kids told us they couldn't watch tv.. go to movies.. dances... etc.. like you have stated here.

Jehovah Witness: Watchtower Doctrine vs. Christian Doctrine
Jehovah Witness and Christian theology actually have some basic similarities. Generally, they both teach that God is the Creator of everything, as opposed to naturalistic evolution, and they both share the belief that Jesus Christ will ultimately return to earth to destroy Satan and establish God's eternal kingdom. However, this is where the general similarities cease. There are many important differences in doctrine between the Jehovah's Witnesses and evangelical Christianity, most important of which is the person and nature of Jesus Christ. The deity of Christ is the central point of the entire Bible. Scripture clearly teaches that Jesus Christ is God. The Jehovah Witness teachings concerning Jesus Christ clearly contradict the teachings of the Bible. Multiple passages tell us that Jesus Christ, who existed as God, took the bodily form of a humble servant so that He could die on the cross in our place.

Jehovah Witness doctrine considers the 66 books of The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (NWT) as the only true and divinely inspired Word of God. The NWT is produced and published by an "anonymous" translation committee of the WBTS. The NWT is regarded as the best and only translation of the Bible, because "the translators held so closely to what is in the original Bible languages." In addition, the "governing body" of the WBTS is regarded as God's only true channel of accurate biblical interpretation. As such, Jehovah Witness doctrine requires that we be "associated with God's channel, his organization" in order to be true followers of God. This means that there is no salvation apart from the WBTS. Christian doctrine holds that the Bible is indeed composed of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, and is indeed the inspired and infallible Word of God. However, the NWT is not a legitimate translation, and merely reflects Jehovah Witness theology, especially its bias against the deity of Jesus Christ and the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. For example, John 1:1 in the NWT reads, "and the Word [Jesus] was a god." All other legitimate Bible translations say, "and the Word [Jesus] was God."

Too many of the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses differ from the Bible. You will see a JW caring a Bible, and quoting scripture from it, but they seem to just pick what they want and leave out the rest. You can not take what you like from the Bible and leave the rest, you have to take it as a whole. It is ALL true, it is ALL inspired by God, it is ALL profitable to man. First, put your belief in God, not man....do some research on your own and you'll find your answer.

We are not against anyone. We just have serious concerns about what the Watchtower Society teaches that does not correspond with Biblical Christianity. The first link below touches upon some of these questions about JW doctrine and the history of the Watchtower Society's apparent mistakes.
