In Christianity and Judaism, because the tribal God Yahweh was male to begin with. At that time people worshipped both Gods and Goddesses. Given the Israelite's male-as-head-of-the-household system, it's not that surprising that the Deity they chose to worship above all others would have a male face.
In some religions, the Divine is still honored as both male and female -- God and Goddess. Personally, I think that God/dess is a human interpretation of a fundamentally unknowable Divine source.

Unknown.
The ONLY indication we have is that GOD man MAN in his own IMAGE.
It is theoretically possible and even problably that MAN perverted the Bible and re-wrote history (something quite common) and that GOD may have CREATED EVE before ADAM.
It does bug me that GOD creates something incapable of propegation, however I was watching Species the other day and they made Sil female because they thought she'd be docile and the Michael Madsen character said "you guys must not get out much!"
Men and women have one thing in common. The posters they put up in their rooms. Men generally pick HE MEN, like Led Zepplin or the Rock. Women do the same thing.
You're not a MAN if you have a picture of Britney in your room.
Men listen to GUY music and quite often so do women.
If GOD was a female, why would SHE create a COMPETITOR.
That, based on general logic, seems true.
So, if God was Male or Female the ODDS are the first human was MALE and probably a hunk. Male GODs would create a man equal to or superior and Female Gods would great a Greek Male God.
IF a MALE God created WOMAN, well some would claim he was a pervert, esepcailly since she's NAKED.
If a FEMALE God created Woman, she'd be a frump. It's is, logically, hard to imagine a Female God with B cups and normal features CREATING Angelina Jolie
That defies all logic and then what would the other God's say. That she was "funny" because she made a cute girl.
Of course would the other Gods say that of God who made a make hunk, not out loud, only the back room.
Of course since God is mostly spirit, which is probably sexless or unisex, it is the CORPORIAL manifestation we are talking about.
It's very unclear.
All we have to go on is the Bible.

~ God is neither male, nor female. God is an entity. Just as everything in life needs both male and female counterparts, so does God.
Back in the beginning of time men were in control of everything, including everything religious. Since it was presumed that only the men were of real value and importance, this ideology was reflected in their religious practices. For this reason, God is traditionally seen as being male and only male.

god is not like anything he created he is the creator of all males and females , so he is neither male nor female he is god!
he has no wife no children never he was born or created!
a male in biology could do lots of physical activities :he could marry and have children,he could eat ,sleep ,drink, he will die and he was born or created and so the life that god created goes on ;people die others born and so on! god is different he doesn't change like the whole changing universe he created!

God is not male, in fact, He has no gender! Because He is spirit, not flesh and bones. However, in His self-revelation to us God chose one of two gender, the male. I mean, it has to be either male or female, right? God has sovereignly chose to reveal Himself to us in the masculine form. But the point to be made is that God is a Personal Being, treating us as a Father would his child, to protect and to provide.

God is beyond sexuality. The Bible uses the male pronounce for convenience. Ascribing hands/feet/sex is called anthropomorphism.
In Scripture God is used in the feminine in Proverbs/Wisdom.

Consider that The Bible says that God made MAN in his LIKENESS AND IMAGE... and woman was made from man's rib...
we assume that God is a man because when he made a "copy" of himself, he made a man
