I think it depends mostly on the way YOU find learning easier. I mean, if you are a very visual person ( learn just by watching someone else doing it, or can figure out things looking at a general diagram or so) perhaps you'd feel comfortable with a guy, since many men are that way, BUT if you have a good memory, keep instructions in mind, and need details (you can see the "whole picture" and still don't get its components figured out) maybe a gal would be better, giving you explanations and communicating exact functions, tips and so.
