I have an old blanket that I sleep with every night since I was 3. Is that baby-ish of me? It's embarrasing to have friends over sometimes because of it. Please give me some advice or boost my confidence a bit.

No. It's not baby-ish at all. Sometimes, pepole just need a little security, and it's okay. Everyone is at least a little insecure at times, and having something you cherish can help make you feel better. It is okay to sleep with something that you hold dear to you, and cherish. It is perfectly normal. (I have 3 stuffed animals, AND an old blanket that I still sleep with!) :o)

For some reason you feel that you need the suritiy of that blanket and that is ok for now. You should not be ashamed cause you have nothing to be ashamed of. There is some reason that you r having to keep your blanket from the pass. For some reason you are not feeling safe, and that blanket of yours is a safety zone for you. You really need to find out why that is a safe zone for you, cause there must be a reason for it. otherwise you would just keep it for when you go married and had childern and let them use your blanket, or maybe you were afraid that your parents were going to throw it away, cause a lot of them do, or they give it away. So maybe you need to go and see a therapist and process this with them, cause I think it is going to take a while to get to the issue why you are holding on and sleeping with the blanket.

Ey Katrinna,

It's really more of a comfort blanket than it is an object that makes you baby-like. You grew up with this blanket as a child and with this blanket, you find your source of security and comfort.

It IS, in a way, a sign of lack of confidence; no offense. You have to find a way to get out of your comfort zone (which is your blanket) and live life in a more open world. Try not to limit yourself to your blanket. That's why your friends are there.

Good luck!

I still have a blankee too!! I think it's cute and it's vintage!! I keep it folded at the end of my bed next to a teddy bear that I've had since I was too. Don't worry about it being baby-ish- you like it, and it's vintage!

Actually, only you can answer that question, because, it's only important to you. What might be a babish thing to someone else, may not be a babish thing for you. I personally don't think it is babish, on the other hand, someone may say you have security issues, and need therapy. So only you can actually answer this question. If it works for you, then it works! I like blankets myself, certain ones that I like to sleep with, because of their feel. So you answer this question yourself.

Everybody has something.
I am 36 and married with 4 kids the oldest being 18, and I still have a stuffed pig I take to bed with me. I have about 50 teddy bears and pigs, but only one that still comes to bed with me every night.

If it helps you feel safe and your no hurting anyone, then why not!!!!

As long as it's not hurting you or others or affecting your life negatively, there's no harm in it.
