Sometimes I like to answer. Other times, I like to point out how stupid people are. The points are just fun.

Answering questions is like getting cake and the points are just the icing on top. Most of the time I really care to answer, sometimes just to show people how rude or stupid they're being, and other times I really know an answer to their question and want to help.

It depends on the question. When there is a good question that needs an answer, I'll type for as long as I have to in order to help the person. If someone has already put my answer, I'll just answer it (say something like, pick that guy, he has the best answer) to get the points because I'm already there. And then there is the odd question that is just asking for a sarcastic remark...

Only when I was level one I really looked for more questions to answer for points, because on the first day I ran into my limit when I had just found a question I truly liked and wanted to answer, and I also wanted to be able to express my opinion with thumbs up/thumbs down. But once I got level two limits were large enough that I never hit them again and I can do anything I need/want to, so now I'm only answering for fun.

In general I will answer questions I know the answers to, especially if the other answerers have really missed the point. I guess I am only here for some fun, and if I manage to educate others while I am here, then all is well :-)

I don't care about the points, really. I answer questions that I find interesting, or questions that I either know the answer to, or am interested in looking up so I can answer. I like helping people. It annoys me when people answer, "I don't know" or "No" but what can ya do!? :)

I don't answer for the points. Some types of questions are purely fun; others make me curious, so they spur me to learn something new, using online resources. There are questions that challenge me to refresh faded academic skills, and some that combine my existing skill or interests with my desire to be helpful to the person asking.
Watching the points is a small part of the entertainment aspect, but the points are not the point.

I try first of all to be accurate and I realize that the area that most of my answer are given is a section where a great deal of disagreement exists as to what is the right or best answer. I truly believe my answer is accurate but I do fail at times to make it complete enough for all to follow my thoughts. You try mental health questions and see how you do. I select my questions carefully but I mostly like to answer to those people that I see are on my waveband or at least very attractive to my mind. Sometimes I think this is as close to heaven as we will find on earth. Think about it. You will be an a mansion of similar thinkers.

As others have said
Questions are treated on their own merit.
Serious questions, Serious answers ( if I know how to answer )
Stupid and oft repeated questions Stupid answers
But more than that (the fun involved plus the points) I have learned a lot by visiting yahoo answers my perception has been undergoing a change !!
