my son is days away from 11 and is growing so fast and getting smelly... even though he showers daily and wears deo. i am thinking that he may be just at that stage but then i hear people telling me he is way too young that boys change around 13-14.

My son is 12 1/2 and has been wearing deo for about a year now. Boys mature at an older age than girls do, my daughter was 9 when she started needing deo and a bra!. But your son is not too young to start the process. Im learning this as we go along too, as he is my oldest and I don't have brothers. So this is what I can tell you has happend to him to this point: He needs to shower daily and wear deo, The hair on his legs has gotten darker but not thicker or more coarse. He has peach fuzz under his arms, and over his upper lip. As for the major changes, his voice has started to change but that is all. All of his boy part remain " boy" parts so far as he is telling me. But he has gotten modest over the last year or so, so I'm not allowed to walk into the bathroom if he's in there now LOL! But it is fine for him to walk in if I"m in there haha! All kids will mature in their own time. As moms I know we wonder and worry, but all we can really do is try to help them through the transition as best we can, and offer our * infinite* :) wisdom and guidance and support.

No. Boys change at all different ages. Usually puberty start between 9-15. 11 is not an abnormal age to start puberty at all. A lot of boys already have armpit hair and hair in other places by the time they are 11. It's better anyway to be an "early bloomer". Just get everything out of the way, and you will enjoy high school much more, when you are fully developed, dont have zits, and other effects of puberty.

Thats's perfectly normal. I started getting pubic hair at 12. Most boys hit puberty between 11-14, and it begins to end around 16-18. There are different stages of puberty though. Early puberty, which happens around 11-13 usually, is pubic hair, voice changing slightly, hair under armbits, and on legs. Later puberty occurs around 15-18 usually, which is arm hair, facial hair, chest hair complete deepening of voice, and completion of height.

Some boys do begin puberty at 11. If he's perspiring to the point of smelling, then he has probably already began. Each child is a little different, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that he's on his way. Good luck with that.

Nowadays puberty starts a bit younger, around 9-11 for girls, 12-14 for boys.

Just have him use a good deodorant soap and a strong deodorant or anti-perspirant and make sure he washes his clothes and not wear the same t-shirt and jeans five days in a row.

At about 11 boys testosterone increases 5 fold. It's pretty much just the beginning or pre-curser for puberty. As scary and bad as this all can be for parents, it gets way worse for the child so please be patient with him, give him outlets and activities and encourage any positive friendship he has with an adult that is not a parent. This can be vital. This journey is part of why we have kids, to watch them become men/women themselves. Scary and exciting...like a roller-coaster!
Take care.
