Which one is harder will depend on the individuals involved. Each equally takes patience, deep, committed love and devotion. Trust, honesty and communication. Willingness to make sacrifices, and to adept to change without over exaggerating the low times.
Without those elements both would be hard to maintain.

I am in a long-distance relationship with the person that I want to spend the rest of forever with and it is incredibly difficult. Love can last forever, so the long relationship isn't a problem, and while it can also span continents, it pulls at your heart to be so removed from that special person. Needless to say, I think a long distance relationship is much harder, but if its true love, than it can travel and distance and any length of time, so the real question is of love, not distance or time.

To keep a long relationship
When a relationship is long distance it is easier to keep it long because you dont see each other that often and there is no small things that irritate you about the other
And with the long distance relationship you still keep your own life with your own friends which doesnt gets left behind like in a normal relationship

Oooh la la, a long distance relationship (just friends) for me because we both have unusual ways of looking at relationships. She's a very negative person and the fact that now she's in a different country doesn't help, gives me very little to work with (postcards/emails/letters). Plus a much better chance they'll move on and forget about you.

Long distance relationship for sure, I dated someone for over two years before he moved to China. We lasted 10 more months after that.

i would have to say long distance relationship-being apart from each other puts a real strain on things-u are alone and miss that love and companionship-plus you dont know what the other person might be doing and you can create delusions in your head...im not saying these relationships dont work but you have to really work at them for them to survive
