Would it be easy to track someone down by there cell number??

Question

What I mean is other then just knowing the area by the area code.....what I mean is physical address and other personal info....I met one person online and I stopped talking to him cause he seemed crazy....so now I'm worried if he can track me down by just the number...he knows nothing else about me other then my first name??Thanks and God bless

For the most part, no...Cell phones are a lot harder to track for information. While you can triangulate a position easily while ON the phone with someone based on satellite linking, finding info otherwise is not an easy thing to do. Unless of course they're a complete geek like me, and have there own satellites launched, lol. But I wouldn't worry too much about it, 70-80% positive he can't find you...less then 5% chance he has the know-how to even begin.

I don't think he can with just the cell phone number. If your phone doesn't have GPS then there's nothing to worry about because there's no way to locate it, but if it does then usually there is an option somewhere in the settings called like "turn location tracking off" or "turn gps off" or something like that, and if you turn that off, then you can't be tracked. I think you're just making a big deal out of nothing though...

As far as I know, without paying money the only info he can get on you is what city you live in and who your provider is. If he's willing to pay money, then yes, it's easy to track you down. That would be pretty extreme though, so hopefully he won't go that far.

Nope...I'm a cop and we can't even trace someone's cell number unless we really have to...All he can do is if he knows who your carrier is and knows someone who works at that company have them give him your info...Or he can have a girl call and pretend to be you and someone may be dumb enough to give out the info, but I doubt that because why wouldn't you know your own address?
I think you are ok unless he knows someone who works for the company your cell phone is through.

You should NEVER give your phone number away to people online unless you really really really really really trust and know they arent psychos

You should change your number, and even if he cant figure out where you live from it he could always spam your number in a chat room so more creeps on the internet know it

In the past he couldn't. Now there is a website(i've been to it) it will tell you some things. However my phone number didn't show up on the site. Its' still pretty new.
