yeah, depression does affect your thinking. being sad is only one symptom of depression, but it's the most noticeable and the word is used to mean sad in everyday language. With treatment for depression, your thinking should be sharper again. When I'm really depressed, I can't even decide on canned chicken noodle soup or boxed macaroni and cheese, and can't fill out a simple form or balance my checkbook (I have a math degree) so the cognitive effect of depression is quite strong!! Also when you are depressed, it is hard to pay attention long enough to do anything. So if this has been going on for awhile, you should go see your doctor. or look online for non med ways to treat depression if it seems to be mild (there are online tests to screen you). Good luck!

In my experience, yes. Both depression itself and some of the medications used to treat depression can slqw you down mentally. It's a vicious circle, because your decreased performance can make you more depressed.
If you think you have depression, it may help you to get help from a professional. Make sure that if you go on medication, you understand the side-effects of the medications you are given, and let the doctor know that one of your priorties is to stay sharp.

OK well first off. Depression can screw with your mind. Sometimes taking time off to think things through helps. Personally...i tried help but it didn't work to well...but that was just me. Talking to someone you know is going through the same thing is actually very helpful. That way you know they know what your going through. I'm not suggesting groups. I'm suggesting friends. When you focus to hard on whats wrong..there is a reason for it. Probably something your soul is trying to tell you. I could go on. But i don't want to seem preachy..
Hope everything works out for you My Friend..
Blessed Be..

Certainly a lot of negative stress (feeling hopeless or helpless) doesn't contribute to a sharp mind and a lot of optimism. I would suggest that you might want to take a look at the energy technique called e f t and see if it doesn't help you to come to grips with your mental outlook right now. Go here http://www.emofree.com/AffiliateWiz/aw.aspx?B=1&A=529&Task=Click&TargetURL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.emofree.com and then scroll to the end of the page so you can learn how to do it for yourself.
God bless!

Depression does a lot of bad things to the body. Maybe you should go to your physician and have a physical and tell him you are depressed is there any physical cause?
