It's been a while since I studied English, and there were subjects I never actually mastered. I don't want to go through life just being another mediocre retard either, I want to brush up on my english

any good sites out there?

Sorry, will you please add whether you are a native or non-native speaker? Our answers will be different depending.

ADDITIONAL: Thanks for mentioning that you are a native speaker. Here's a website I turned up on a Google search:

You should also be able to find a wealth of grammar books at your local library. They won't necessarily be called "grammar"; they'll often be called "guide to writing" or something like that.

The textbook I'll be using to teach a grammar course this summer is "English Grammar: Language as Human Behavior" by Barry. It's quite expensive, but perhaps you can get a relatively cheap copy of the first edition.

HTH!

There are lots of them. All you have to do is to Google it using one of these key words: grammar, parts of speech, parts of a sentence, tenses, common grammar mistakes... Really, you don't need us to tell you how to look for grammar web sites. My favorite one is a British Council website that comes up if you type "grammar games" in the search bar. Try it even if, at the beginning, it will give you the impression that it is for children.

the best place to learn it is from your parents. other than that call your local high school and ask for adult education classes. they are usually free and the teachers are more than willing to help you.
