Death must have been in progress even inside the garden. Jehovah did not banish Adam and Eve from the garden because of original sin, he banished them so that they could not eat from the Tree of Life. That was the only thing that would keep Adam and Eve from becoming gods. It is an interesting story that should be read very carefully without your religious blinders on, it is not the story that it has been made out to be. And use an older bible, such as the KJV, because newer versions have tampered with the text to make it comply better with the dogmatic version of the story.

Certainly. Genesis 1-11 is based on much older documents from Abraham's home in Ur. The Ugaritic Gilgamesh Epic and Babylonian Genesis are two examples. Genesis is a theological statement of God's desire for an intimate relationship with humanity - adam even means humankind. By the nature of existence, the sheer "be bountiful and multiply" would suggest that replacement for death would be a part of "Garden" theology - hence the need for a Tree of Life.

Ok here is the whole story reader's digest version :) (this is my favorite story in the bible so here goes)IN the beginning there was adam and eve. They were immortal and they were given two commandments: be fruitful and multiply (otherwise have kids) and don't partake of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. so at this point, neither adam or eve knew what was right or wrong. however, they could not follow one rule without breaking the other because of their stage of innocence. Remember, once they ate the forbidden fruit, their eyes were "opened" and they realized they were naked and they were ashamed. how could they have known how to reproduce and copulate before the fruit was eaten? So eve had to make the decision to live forever as an immortal being in the garden of eden or be cast out and have children. she partook of the forbidden fruit and accidentally brought upon life for mankind. It wasn't really a sin, because God knew that in order for the plan to be fulfilled, one law had to be broken. so in actuality, she didn't sin, she merely transgressed. adam and eve were cast out from the garden, therefore experiencing spiritual death, for they could no longer live in the presence of the Lord. As a result of the spiritual death, they were now able to experience physical death and now were able to give childbirth. and yet she is criticized for it when in all reality, we wouldn't be here if it weren't for her transgression.
so to answer your question, no there was no death before the garden because adam and eve were immortal and it was just them. After the fall, life began and at the same time, so did death. Adam fell that men might have joy, because one needs to know pain in order to experience happiness.

Dear dwight, No, before the fall, the creation was without flaw, it was perfect in every aspect. After the fall, is recorded the first Murder, it was when Cain Murderee Able.

I once lived the Life of an avid skeptic and unbeliever, I hated religion and I looked down upon the idea of God, and I looked down upon Christianity’s risen messiah. I persisted in this view, Until as I skeptically picked up Gods word, he spoke, and I received a message stating: ”I am astonished you are so quickly removed from the Gospel you have heard to another, apparently there are some who have confused you and perverted the Gospel of Christ, but if any man preach unto you any other, then let them be eternally Condemned.” This harsh chastening of God, led me to reexamine my own skepticism. I later had yet another encounter with God, this time, he held up his Law (Ten Commandments) as mirror, and The Holy spirit convicted my heart as I came to realize God hates lying and stealing and blasphemy and adultery and idolatry, all of whom I was guilty. I knew the Bible said the Just penalty of my sins was Hell. I fell upon my face and trembled before God, because I understood His holiness, I repented toward God and placed my faith and trust in Jesus, and now I have been forgiven and granted the gift of everlasting life. My sins have been forgiven, and I have a relationship with God.

According to Biblical Myth, death was introduced by Eve eating the Apple. So if you believe that nonsense then no, no death outside the Garden before "the Fall"
Kill your GOD
-Amen

The first literal death was when Cain killed Abel. That was after the fall.

Possibly. Animals die naturally, get killed by preditors.

We seem to get it implied the Garden was the ONLY controlled environment.

A trivial question that you will have to ask God for the answer.

Are you asking because you want to see if you get believers in a "trap"? If so, that is work of the devil through you.

You tell us.. was there?
