LC-42D62U is a new generation1080p TV with a screen resolution of 1920x1080p(FULL HD) which supports Blu-ray and HD DVD players.It has high dynamic contrast of 10000:1 that equals plasmas.It has the most advanced panel.
LC-32D42U is a 1080i TV with 1366x768 with 6000:1 dynamic contrast

Also, the 32D42U is a 32" set while the 42D62U is a 42" set. The D62U is not the latest Sharp model. The D92U series was shown at the Consumer Electronics Show, and is just coming on the market. It offers new features ("smooth motion", better backlight, better contrast ratio) but costs more. An issue with Sharp LCD sets is screen uniformity. Check any set you get by looking at an image with a large area of blue sky or the background color of a menu. If it looks ok to you, then keep the set.
