I am going to Laughlin this weekend, and I'd like to return home with some money! What games have the best odds? (I'll play anything- I'll just have to learn how)

The pass line odds bet is the best bet in a casino. Less than 1% house advantage if the bet is maxxed out, and with the casinos out there payin 10 or 20 times on an odds bet, it cannont be beat.

Blackjack and craps are the two best games that are fun to play. Baccarrat has a low house edge but it boring to play.

You can become a reasonably blackjack player in a week if you apply yourself. Learn basic strategy for the particular game you are playing. They have 6 deck games, 2 deck games and single deck games. BEWARE the single deck game. If you find one and it says that you get paid 6/5 on a blackjack, keep walking! This brings the house edge on this game to over 1% depending on the rules it can be as high as 2%.

A good place to learn basic strategy is at this website. www.blackjackinfo.com
It even has a strategy trainer where you can play online and it will tell you when you make a mistake. This way you can hone your skills.

Even using basic startegy the best you can hope to do is get the house odds down to about .23% on a good 2 deck game and about .44% on a 6 deck game. This is still very good.

Playing at a $5 table for 1 hour your expected loss would be about $6 or less. With a very small amount of luck you could get up and leave the table a winner.

Also make your first stop at the casino the players club. Get a free players card and give it to them EVERYTIME you play. You will get comped based on your play. This will bring the expected amount you will lose down even lower.

Craps has great odds. I play everytime I go to Vegas. You just have to make sure that you get on a high energy table where people are clapping and having a good time. Here is a website that explains some of the basics. The dealers are also a big help, and will answer most questions. I always bet the pass line, and then once the button goes on I back bet, and then place a bet on 6 and 8 as well, because you have the highest odds of the dice hitting those numbers. I don't bet the middle of the table or the Big 6 or Big 8. My fiance likes to bet the field if the number that is "On" is also a number in the field. He says it is good karma. http://www.gamblingtimes.com/bascraps.html

I would say from personal experience as a dealer not just of blackjack but of a variety of table games that the best game as far as the least house edge on the player is baccarat. There are many intricate rules to this game which makes it less appealing to the novice player but the concept is quite simple. You can either bet Banker or Player. Which ever one you choose has to come closet to 9. Let's say you bet Banker and you have a score of 7 and Player shows a score of 5...then you win. If you bet on Banker and win, then you have to pay a commission to the casino of 5%....a $100 bet will net you $95. If you bet Player, then you don't have to pay the commission because the intricate set of rules that you will see when you play are set up more towards giving the Banker an edge, therefore the casino offsets that edge by forcing you to pay for it. Your dealer will go more in depth while you are at the table. Have fun!

It really doesn't matter what you play quite honestly. You are not going to learn enough about any game in a week to give you a reasonable edge.

Poker is the best game of all because there is no house edge. But you are not going to be good enough in a week.

Blackjack is easy to learn and has a low house edge.

This time around you might just as well have fun. Next time do some studying before hand. But give yourself longer than a week.

The only two games in which the player has an edge over the casino are blackjack (if you can count cards) and baccarat. Everything else, the house will win in the long run, those two games a talented player will win (just) in the long run (like 51% of games). You can also try poker though because you are playing other people and not the house. But its pretty hard to learn in less than a week!

Roulette has 35-1 odds. If you hit on a $5.00 bet, you get $175.00.
I always pick 17 or 33. Among other ways to bet. Go online to see how. Switch tables often.
