I read that 5 to 10% of people marry their highschool sweetheart. As far as whether you can stay with your highschool sweetheart your entire life, it really depends on the couple and the relationship. I have two friends who married their high school sweethearts. One married hers when they were fresh out of highschool and 18 and 19 years old. They have been married 21 years now and are still madly in love (this is one couple out of a class of 200). My other friend met hers at 15 and they married at 24. I think they will last as well because they didn't jump the gun. They went through high school and beyond that together. They both did the college and career thing and stayed together through it all. They just had twins and have been married three years now.
Honestly though...I think the odds aren't really there. Things happen during and after high school that change the dynamic of who you are. These people all grew together. Some couples grow apart.
Really, if I were you, I would just concentrate on doing well in school. If things go well with a sweetheart...great. If they don't, you are still going to have some wonderful memories.

I'm sorry to say this, but that statistic isn't a good one to go by. It's possible to meet someone in high school and stay with them for your entire life, but marriage is something -really- big, and way more than just high-school love. If you're mature and responsible, and have good communication, and understand self-sacrifice, then you can very well marry your high school sweetheart. Sadly, a lot of relationships crumble when both partners realize they are different people than when they first met in school... It's a matter of luck and perseverence, I think.

Dont do it
I think you'll find only @ 2% of marriages that last are highschool sweethearts and @ 98% of highschool sweetheart marriages end up in divorce.
People change way to much between teens and late 20's.

Probably not, if both of you plan on attending college or one joining the service(this has better odds), than you will be in a long distance relationship., and they don't have a tendency to work out. But if your not going to college, or there close or only one of you is going and the other can go with him/her, then there is always a chance. As for 98%, that's clearly not the case.

What? Where did you hear that? NO. And if they do most (Greater than 60%) of then get divorced. It is possible but know that you are going to have a lot of challenges to work through because when it comes down to it you're still growing up and learning.

YES YOU CAN!! =) Thats the beauty of love. Dont focus on whether or not the majority of relationships work or not. Just focus on making your relationship work. You shouldnt worry about other people because you are not other people, you are you and no one else. So dont worry about "them" and "their" relationships because it is you and your relationship with the person you love. =) I hope for the best of luck for you! I hope everything works out! FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS AND NEVER GIVE UP!!
