Today I wanted to try to have a mystical experience. I learned a couple things.
1. Meditation works so easily when you just let things slip away from your mind instead of trying to force them out. Insence helps me relax so this is easier.
2. We can translate the mystical experience to every aspect of our lives if we take the time to do it.

Anyway, I lit some incense, ran a bath with some salts I made, turned on my oil burner too, burned some sage around my bath, them kind of dove in, at least as much as you can in a bathtub.
Anyway, the sun was shining in the room a bit through the open window, and it just felt perfect. The water was perfect temperature, there was a slight breeze. It was easy to slip into a meditative state.

It was easy to imagine I was in the ocean on a sunny day with sparkly water, and that mood was the mood of my experience.

I just let stuff come to me, but first I felt total unity. And I had these thoughts, like we're all on Earth and are going to die.

That we're just all trying to figure things out, and no one's quite sure and that fear is what causes wars over religion, and intolerance.

I also had some cool visualizations that just made me happy, like people dancing in a circle at a park and a laughing, and other happy thoughts. It was nice. I think it was me connecting my experience to things that could help me. Now I have those visualizations.

So has anyone else experienced something like this?

Wow, awesome. That sounds pretty sweet.

I live nestled against the rockies, and sometimes I hike up something like Gray's Peak, then I just sit at the top of the mountain for a while and stare off into the distance. It's not exactly the same, but you really feel connected to the world around you.

When thunderheads come your way, you feel a little too connected though. :)

Yep, I can relate to your experience. It sounds like you used special stimuli (the incense, the salts, the bath itself) to induce a light trance state, to go to a place that was different and separate from your everyday experiences. You might also want to experiment with drumming and/or chanting (either yourself or from an audio tape), dancing, lighting candles, etc.

And you're right, in my opinion -- we are all on Earth, and we are going to die. What you do with the knowledge that comes to you during meditative states is up to you to figure out.

I wish you the best of luck.

I can relate this to hypnotism. It does about the same thing. It's a carefree relaxing state of mind.
