I used to teach kindergarten. The kids had many favorite books. Some of the most popular were the "David" books by David Shannon. (No David, David gets in trouble, David goes to school). Junie B. Jones series, by Barbara Park, was VERY popular with the kids. My son's 2nd grade teacher got him hooked on the Magic Treehouse series (Osborn, I think). Jan Brett books are popular and considered "good" books by most teachers.
