As a therapist who has worked with many depressives, and as a person who has depression myself, I would suggest that you see a counselor. Counselors can help you find ways to cope with your stressors and they are often a good support system. Also, if the counselor thinks you need other types of help, he or she can help link you up with another professional or specialist. Depression is a very common disease that can cause serious disruption in a person's life, and if this is a condition that you have struggled with on and off throughout your life then I would suggest seeking help from a professional. Counselors, social workers, and psychologists generally tend to help you find ways to improve your life and cope more effectively, while psychiatrists typically look at the biological factors of depression and prescribe medications to reduce symptomology.

Simple depression is normal sometimes try to do something to make yourself happy like shopping, painting, a new friend to hang with stuff like that. Go to your family Pastor or Reverend find a reason to be happy, when I think of all the people who lost so much during Hurricane Katrina, You and I are blessed and maybe we can find thing smile about

Go to your primary care doctor. Believe me, I am sure you may feel embarrassed like I did but I had a very difficult situation that I dealt with for 17 years. I was put on medicine probably during the10 to 12 year period - my mother-in-law who was verbally mean and dominating. She ended up 2 years ago dying of lung cancer. We both (husband and I) stuck with her through the whole thing but through it all, with taking Prozac the doctor prescribed to me and really being honest with my husband about the way I was feeling, REALLY helped. Don't put it off because it only gets worse and you have to realize that there are just some things you cannot control in life, especially if you are a caretaker. Good luck and please get help for this - you will feel so much better, trust me.

Well i would sugguest that you go and see a therapist and find out what is bothering you, or stressing you out so much, and then work on it, so you can get rid of the depression. Cause there is something behind the depression, and stress is one of them, so what is stressing you, and getting you to feel so low in the dumbs.

Perhaps, you have to make some changes to your life.
Get out of the house, make new friends, watch a good comedy. If you can get a new job, move away, buy some new clothes, laugh a lot, join the Church Choir.
Enjoy life.

You should write more detail in your question. Why are you depressed? What has happened in your life to make you feel that way?

Cheer up? Eat a bowl of frosted flakes, take a hot shower and watch a Foghorn leghorn cartoon.

We all have good and bad days. I think sadness is a normal emotion. You just have to learn positive ways to stimulate your brain. Exercise and a proper diet really help.
