My christian advice to you is consider this verse 1John4:1

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

It means that try or test the spirits within them, their spiritual doctrines, practices and discipline implemented as Jesus Christ said in John7:17-18

17
If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

Just ask if I'd like to talk about Jesus and I'll tell you no. Then you go away. Also Bible quotes are pointless. You need to prove the Bible is the word of God and not of man. And don't talk about the Israel prophecy... Those Jews waited thousands of years until America found a nation for them. If that wasn't an excuse before WWII then it isn't now. You must somehow disprove the most likely scenario: that Jesus was a regular guy who died at the cross and there were rumors of him coming back to life. Then you got word of mouth adding parts to the story. Adding the birth and the preaching for decades until John and Peter decided to write it down and claim they were divinely inspired. A claim no on can make in the 21st century.

So you want to preach the gospel, is that what you are saying. Well as an atheists, I guess I would want to be approached in an intellectual way. Don't try to get me with hell fire and brimstone. That just pisses us off. We are very skeptical. You might want to try not to go too much into things, like, the Bible is word for word true. Try showing some evidence of the truth of it (how you are going to do this I don't know). Maybe get some books on evidence? Try just inviting a friend to a gathering that is not on Sunday. Like hay, my church is having this really fun picnic, wanna come. You know, just for fun, kind of thing. So, I guess, I wouldn't want it in my face. That's all. Slowly introduce it. Let them ask questions from there.

We'd like to be approached not at all.

We already have beliefs - in different religions, or in no religion.

Why would you assume to try to change those beliefs?

Would you like some other religion's adherents to be constantly approaching you and telling you that your beliefs are false? You already stated not to "give you crap" about your Christ's existence. Can't you see that sentiment works the other way as well?

I'm all for letting people decide for themselves what they choose to believe.

The only way I can answer your question is by knowing where you stand on the Bible, first. Christianity has nothing in common with religion. Only people who don't know the differences, don't see the differences. He are some website that might help you:

I don't want to be approached! I have a savage dog to keep the God bothers outside the gate. New religion? what's new about any religion it's all based on the same distorted fables.

I prefer Chaucers tales at least they didn't try to convert anyone to a belief system fraut with errors of translation and ignorance of the suffering, destruction of societies for the greed of Gold for King and Pope

Tracts, megaphones and withholding charity services don't seem to be the best way. In fact, they're pretty awful. People just toss out tracts, megaphones are abbrasive, and keeping a homeless man from his meal while you give him a sermon are really not the best way to convert people.

Live by example.

Talk to people because you care about them, not just them filling up another seat in the pew.

It isn't crap to say that Christ probably didn't exist. I happen to be Christian (Episcopalian) but that doesn't mean I'm blind to facts.

The Bible is certainly myth, there is no question among any thinking people I know of that. Christ, I choose to believe in -- but it is an issue of faith at best.

Reality intercedes.

It is best to leave others alone, to allow them to make their own faith decisions. To do otherwise is intrusive and abusive -- immoral, and wrong.

How should I approach you to convince you Russell's teapot exists?

---

Russell's teapot, sometimes called the Celestial Teapot, was an analogy first coined by the philosopher Bertrand Russell, intended to refute the idea that the burden of proof lies upon the sceptic to disprove unfalsifiable claims of religions. In an article entitled "Is There a God?," commissioned (but never published) by Illustrated magazine in 1952, Russell said the following:

If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time.

In his book A Devil's Chaplain, Richard Dawkins developed the teapot theme a little further:

The reason organized religion merits outright hostility is that, unlike belief in Russell's teapot, religion is powerful, influential, tax-exempt and systematically passed on to children too young to defend themselves. Children are not compelled to spend their formative years memorizing loony books about teapots. Government-subsidized schools don't exclude children whose parents prefer the wrong shape of teapot. Teapot-believers don't stone teapot-unbelievers, teapot-apostates, teapot-heretics and teapot-blasphemers to death. Mothers don't warn their sons off marrying teapot-shiksas whose parents believe in three teapots rather than one. People who put the milk in first don't kneecap those who put the tea in first.

Truthfully, I wouldn't want to be approached.

Know what got me interested in Buddhism? I read some articles and heard/watched some talks by the Dalai Lama. The man has a calm about him. His face lights up talking about Buddhism.

He made me want to attempt to meditate... and, oh man, is that hard. My "monkey mind" flies all over the place. lol (And no, I don't think of myself as Buddhist).
