Does anyone know what regulations Catholic universities have for hiring homosexual persons to teach theology? Should I even bother to continue theology in grad school after my BA because I'm a lesbian and not sure if I can get hired at a Catholic institution? Teaching Catholic theology is my dream in life...someone please tell me there's still a way I can do it...

Pastor Billy says if you intend to take a vow of celibacy I see no issue. However if you fully intend to live out a gay lifestyle and be sexually active in a homosexual relationships I see many problems. You know what I say rings true.

That is a huge NO! In the Catholic church there is no support or tolerance for your lifestyle choice as it is an abomination of God's teachings. They kicked out openly gay priests from seminary, why in the world would you think they would hire you? In the last Presidential election the pope said that politicians who support abortion are no longer allowed to take communion. This is just one example of its stand on its beliefs. I am a very traditional, strong Catholic. I am proud of our church for its beliefs and strength to stand for them. Catholic schools have fired teachers for their lifestyles so no they will not hire you if they know beforehand. If you want to be a part of a religion that goes with the flow and does not always follow the bible or sacred tradition but instead listens to the people of the society over God then by all means become a protestant and study that.

In my experience in catholic universities, I have seen gays teach theology as seminarians and priests, but have not seen ordinary catholic members gay/lesbians teach theology.

Why not try to study Bible in comparison of catholic theology, and that I incourage you to study Bible with Bro Eli and you can contact him directly at http://www.truthcaster.com

Why not if they conduct their lives decently?
Theology teachers are supposed to have knowledge about theology and sincerely believe it, not the scholars who worry about their physical forms. What is the use of learning and teaching theology by and for people who have no faith in the love of God for all mankind!

the guy taught, on the college's request, a faith. faith does not replicate politics--it bargains with information of the Bible. One does not get to vote on what one considers suited or incorrect--that's spelled out for you. in case you decide on an expert to coach approximately Catholicism, you get a Catholic to accomplish that. He grew to become into coaching what he knew and how he knew it. of course, he shouldn't are starting to be fired. If the student felt an animosity in direction of Catholicism, he wouldn't have signed up for the class. The bigotry lies interior the student and not the instructor.

I read on the Internet that a extremely high percentage of catholic priests are gay. You should fit right in. Look it up, I think it was a quote from a book writen by a Catholic priest.

Are you going put that first on your resume? Then you should not have a problem. It would be more of a problem in a Baptist University. I know gay men that became members of RC religious orders. They live lives of celibacy. If you flaunt it, you might have a problem, but otherwise, no.
