It's gross but the thick drainage is gagging me! Any home remedies to thin the mucus? Or any remedies for that matter?

Kathy A got it.

you "snort" warm salt water up each nostril, as it comes down the back of your throat, spit it out. the best benefit of this is the same as gargling with salt water, you wash all those germs out of your sinuses and get well faster.

mix your salt water in a cup and put some in a spoon and then pt it up to one nostril while you hold the other nostril closed.

also, if you drink lots of liquids you will thin out the mucus.

I had this problem when I was sick last month for the FIRST time in my life. I went to the doctor and he suggested Mucinex. Also, my daughter has sinus problems and I always have to give her some kind of antihistamine. I would try one of these.

Yes, there is. I take a product called Mucinex. It's generic name is guaifenecin, the same product that's in some cough medicines. It really works. I'm a singer and it helps my voice.
