I was just wondering if migraines and alergies could be related. I had allergy testing today and I found out I have a lot of allergies. They tested for 61 substances and I am allergic to 32 of the substances and I had strong reactions to 18 of the 32. The allergist thinks that some of these allergies could be contributing to my migraines.

Of course, your allergies can cause migraines - there are loads of migraine triggers and allergies are a huge factor. Your allergist went to medical school, then went to school for his specialty so he's a very knowledgeable person. He knows what he is talking about so listen to him!

I have severe allergies and I also have migraines. I cannot live my life without botox now. I first tried Botox injections for migraines in 2000, and in 2007 I'm still using botox for migraine prevention. I can tell you that I would rather PREVENT the migraines than ever have to take medication for treating them.

I don't have to take pills that make me woozy. The injections last about 5 months take effect within one week. They are not covered by my insurance, but I would rather pay out of pocket for them to PREVENT that horrific pain of migraine.

People get migraines for a variety of reasons and food allergies could possibly be one of them. Hormones are another (in women). Best thing to do is to (and yes, it sounds a bit tedious), but to keep track of when you get the migraines and if possible, write down recent meals, time of day, time of month, stress factors, etc. I remember reading some time back about magnesium helping people with migraines. Might want to check it out further. Good luck

My mother is allergic to a lot of items also. She also get frequent migraines that are so bad she goes to the ER. They are allergy related. If yours are sensitive to motion, light, sound, and some smells they probably are. There are shots, sprays for your nose, and pills that you can use for treatments. My mom tried them all. The shots take years to work though. The spray makes you really drowsy. I think there is a patch too. The best way would be patch or pill, nut that is just my perspective.

it is possible to get migraines from allergies. if they are severe allergies. Sometimes allergies can make you have pressure in your head and it will cause pain... if you experience them you should ask a doctor if he or she can help relieve them.
