I am considering enlisting in the air force because I want to become a pilot.
I have found it hard to get a decent job and only have my GED.

If you were interested in obtaining your license without the college/air force thing, have a look at these basic qualifications.

If you do decide to try college, I might recommend a degree in meteorology. It would be very relevant for you.

not with a ged. If i was you i would talk to the army. I don't think the marines will take ged unless you get a waiver. You can be a pilot in the army, but keep in mind you have to do really well on the asvab, and im not calling you stupid by any means, but that test is really hard !! i thought so anyway. So if you really want to be a pilot, then go army. You can get an mos that is like a blackhawk mechanic or maybe a crew chief, and then put in for warrant officer training and then get your wings. Double check what im saying, because im not in the army, im in the marines and a grunt, but i looked into it when i joined many moons ago. best of luck

I don't think you can join the AF with a GED. I think you need a high school diploma but check with a recruiter to be sure. You also have to have a college degree to become an officer. Also, the AF is downsizing drastically, but I believe you will be okay if you choose to become a pilot. You need 20/20 vision.

You will be subjected to an FBI led background check. They will look at your record and see the charge. So yes it will be bad to keep it from them. Anything that was brought under the attention of Law is considered viable. So yes, you should say yes because with something like that they will find out anyways. If you do lie about it, or choose to keep it from them, it will ruin your chances for a higher level of a security clearance. One little pointer. Anything above the age of 14 is considered viable information. For an example; if you were 2 years old and was hospitalized for asthma, you would not have to bring that up.

Be careful. You might end up flying a desk.

The service is a good way to overcome only having a GED just make sure you don't get misled. Talk to recruiters from all the branches.

Good luck.

All pilots in the U.S. Air Force are officers. To become an officer you must have a college degree. Therefore all pilots have a college degree. Your G.E.D. just won't do.

Join the peace corps and fly food in to hungry peoples.
It is a sad state of the union when a citizen has no choice but military duty to be gainfully employed.

sorry but the Air Force accepts High School Diplomas only. You may try the Army, I think they are the only ones who may accept a GED.
