It all depends. If you have a nice policeman, if you don't carry on just do what you're asked. Also, it depends where you are and what speed you were doing. example: 50 mph in a school zone>going to be a big ticket, anything on the freeway>big ticket.
What I'm saying is that many things play into the cost of a speeding ticket. In general, If I had to average the charges, I'd say about $200.

All I can give you is South Carolina fines, they are as follows:

1-10 mph - $76.00 2 points
11-15 mph - $128.00 4 points
16-20 mph - $180.00 4 points
21-25 mph - $232.00 4 points
26 mph + - $480.00 6 points

But that is just for the state, different municipals have other fees as well such as court cost, which usually will be waived if they are paid online or mailed in. Bottom line is this, if you speed and get caught, then go to court and see if the officer will reduce the ticket or the judge will. Other than that, just don't speed.

It all depends on the speed you were going over the speed limit and how nice the cop is that stops you.
