Buy Japanese. You will find they are designed better, built better, drive better, and hold their value better.

There is a reason Ford is bankrupt, it is because their cars are crap, and all they have left is to sell below cost.

For 3k you could get a nice, late 90's Subaru Impreza RS, or a Supra, or Celica, or Civic, or Accord, or Mitsubishi Eclipse, or take your pick.

Buy a japaneese or a european car. They are more fuel efficient then an American cars, more reliable, faster, if you buy the same liter engine.
The question you have to ask yourself is do you need a economic car or do you just want to show off with a mustang.
Can you afford the Gasoline, can you afford the parts of the Mustang GT. 5.0L Engine. 8cylinder, very expensive to drive.
you might have alot of power to start out with but in the long run you would be left behind if you had to race against a BMW M3. wich only has 3,0L Engine and its only a 6cylinder.
Honda is probably your best bet with the money you have to spend.
They are usually faster. get yourself a honda civic.
Keep the money in your pocket and dont give it away on the high price gasoline
My favorite car is a BMW M3. Drives 240kmh here in germany without heating up.
Best Regards
Ed

Honda is the most reliable and will outlast and Ford or GM. The problem is that have a higher resale value so it will cost you more. The repair costs are few and the gas slightly better.

A Mustang GT? If someone gave you one it would probably cost you $2000 in insurance.

Imports are more reliable for the first few years of ownership, but with your budget, your better off buying a domestic. They hold up much better in the long run, and they cost a lot less to repair. You will also be able to get a lot more car for your money.

I would go with a toyota or a honda. They are more reliable and can withhold more miles than a GM or ford.

Go with as old a Mustang as required to match your price. I sold a 10 year old Mustang convertible for $2500 a few years ago. I wish I kept it.

All that crap about *** cars being better is just that, crap.
