Would you date a person that apparently has very poor speaking and writing skills? They seem uneducated when you talk to them. They mean well, and grew up in the same city, but simply can't put a sentence together? You spend more time trying to figure out what they're trying to say than holding a real conversation. You're probably wonder why I'm sticking around right? Well he's sweet and it feels like I should stick it out to see if there's more, but what's the point? Would you continue on with it?

It probably sounds shallow, but how would you cope with it?

We have a lot in common and seem to complete eachother in a lot of things, but it's like he has the speaking skills of a two year old.

I believe communication is key to any working relationship. If you can't connect, it will not work.

If you've stuck around for this long regardless of his speaking and writing skills, then you definitely aren't shallow at all!!! You are making a heart to heart connection with him, which is rare these days and creates a bond that the minds cannot compare..........Yes, communication is a major ingredient in every relationship, but if you two get along well and have much in common, words can be taught and learned. Action can't always be the case. If you care enough about each other, than you two can overcome this somehow, someway.........

My father had a very hard time speaking but he was smart. For years my mother always ordered for him in restaurants and answered the phone and he really didnt talk alot.It lasted 40 years till his death.Look if you beleive he is intelligent but uneducated teach him to speak properly but dont criticize just occasionally prompt him.Is it possible he is from the south or his folks were? Sometimes they sound pretty rough but its not a lack of intelligence. You need to find out if he is smart enough to fulfill you emotionally if he is run with it.best wishes

It seems as though you like him, so I wouldn't just push him aside because of his possible lack of education. Maybe you should bring it up and see whats really going on, its possible that he may have had a learning disability of some sort. See if there's anything you could do to help him? And dig deeper into him and see what is there about him that makes up for his lack of education...there's got to be something interesting about him, but try not to give up on him. Good luck to you.

get him into a grammar program you know reading writing and language support. and meet him once a week to see how much he's improving. that way he's not your headache but he's getting smarter and eventually he will put it all to gether and you guys could have a normal conversation. and today in this world you need to know how to read and write and talk. how else is he gonna make it in this world. another thing is is he mentally developly disabled? and don't know maybe he should see a doctor. hope this helps

girl, it's NORMAL - you know how it is...we're naturally more emotionally and intellectually MATURE than boys...so even boys are age are STILL not good enough, you know? it's not shallow...why do you think girls have a thing for "older men"?? haha maan, how frustrating would that be? talking to a guy with poor talking/thinking skills? it's hard enough to talk with a guy with average talking skills - i mean, he's probably a cool guys to hang out with but don't worry about it - you're not shallow :)

I am not wondering why you are still with him. I am wondering why he is still with you. You knew about this before you got together why is it now such an issue. You are right about one thing sounds pretty shallow to me. There is a good chance he has a learning disability that you could help him with as opposed to gripping about it!

It's not shallow. It can be troubling when you can't converse intelligently with someone. He might have a legitimate learning disability and is wanting your help.

It may not be a matter of education or intelligence. He could have a serious learning disability. He needs to be tested to find out.

I think you should stick with him and maybe help him out. That would be a nice gesture and maybe bring you two closer together
