If detected and treated in the early stages, cervical cancer is completely curable. Chances of survival though decline with advanced stages. Your overall health also determines the prognosis. The five year survival rate, for all states is reported to be 70%. You can read more here

Y-E-S !!! Cancer in any form can and does kill millions of people every year. Cervical cancer, when caught early, is readily treatable and frequently curable. My daughter had cervical cancer at 21 years of age. It required two localized freeze procedures - not horribly painful. She recovered fully and later had a baby without problems. She is now 38 years old and cancer free.
The cancer was detected by a routine Pap smear. NEVER skip getting one...especially if you are sexually active. Even if you have had unprotected sex with only one person, you are at risk. Why? Because you have just been exposed to ANYTHING that ANYONE that person slept with had. HPV, Human Papiloma Virus, is out there just waiting for a chance. DON'T GIVE IT ONE!

Yes you can, although it responds very well to treatment if the cancer has not metastasized (spread) from its primary site.

The STI human papillomavirus (HPV) is responsible for greater than 90% of cervical cancer cases, according to researchers. This means that the root cause of most cervical cancer is sexually transmitted, and can be carried by men as well as women. Always use condoms, and get tested regularly for STIs if you are sexually active.

Also, if you are a young woman (sexually active or not) it would be a good idea to consider getting Gardasil, the recently released vaccine against four strains of HPV.

Depends on the cancer. Dysplasia is a form of cervical cancer. If caught early, chances are slim to none on dying. If cancer runs heavy in the family, take every precaution.

Yes, any form of cancer is potentially fatal. The most common way for a cancer in a non-vital organ, such as the cervix, to kill is by metastisizing. That is, spreading beyond the organ , into the bloodstream, and throughout the body.

I hope this is helpful.
