Should it concern me that my boyfriend still talks on the phone and writes e-mails to one of his ex-girlfriends? She does not live in the same city and they went to grad school together and have similar careers? Should I care or just forget about it?

it should only concern you if he did it behind your back...the term ex means just that...if they stayed friends...well good for them...dont you have any friends that you used to date?

I had a boyfriend who would wait untill we were going on long drives to start talking about ex-girlfriends. One day I just was so tired I wasnt listening and thats when he asked me " Are you listening to me?" and I said, " Oh, no, not really..." and the whole ex-girlfriend chatter stopped. I think he was doing it to make me jealous or something...I just tuned him out when he would get like that. If the ex-girlfriend was so great, then why are you not together is my biggest comeback for what I call " time travel" syndrome. Good Luck hun.-Rachel.

is he calling her in your presence?
does he hide the emails?
if he's open about it and proves to you that there's nothing going on...then I think it's ok. Also, make sure the ex gf knows that you are his lady now.
I think it's something you should address to him if it bothers you..not to argue with him but to set some boundaries. Do you think he would care if you were talking to your ex? think about that and act accordingly

hey at first my gf was paranoied about me talking to my ex... but she found out that me an my ex are jus friends and will never change that... so u should give him a chance

if you trust him it shouldnt really matter right? and if you dont trust him, why are yo with him? ps dont try to control his life, that is a good way to push him away.
