I currently type at around 70-80wpm, where I've been at for about a year now. I haven't taken any typing classes, all self taught, but I have pretty good form. I'm looking to get in the upwards of around 150+ wpm. I'm just a high school student, so I don't have an excessive amount of typing I can practice with, but this is a skill I'm sure that'd be useful for me throughout my life if I can get it to double where I am now. Any suggestions are appreciated.

A typing software can be purchased from a range of prices. I personally prefer Mavis Beacon teaches typing. And i wont even start on the limitless amount of typing improvement websites. Try googling keyboarding and see what comes up.

I don't know about any software you can get, but you might be able to get typing books from your library and practice with that. This is what we used when I was in high school for typing class. Old fashioned, but it works. Since you probably know where all the letters are on your keyboard, try placing your 4 fingers on "home row", which is the middle row of letters on your keyboard. Start with your pinky on the letter 'A' , the next finger on 's' and so on. G & H should be left open. Your thumbs should be on the space bar. Keep these fingers on home row and only move them to the letters that are on that hands side. Now all you have to do is start typing. Open a word document on your computer and practice on that. It doesn't take long to pick up your pace if you know where all the letters are on your keyboard. Hope this helps.

I've never been able to break through the 85 wpm barrier, and currently I type around 72 wpm. I suppose if you wanted practice, and wanted to make a little (and I mean little) side money at the same time, you might check out mechanical turk. At least you'll get some practice. Good luck to you!

Try typing programs, books, w/e.. The most important thing is to type as much as you can and to make sure you're using the proper typing stuff.
Also, you can try learning the piano if you want. I know it helped me. My last speed test was a 146 wpm. Yes. That's fast.

if you practice you can do it but I've never heard of anyone typing that fast. My sister is at 100 wpm, she is a medical transcriber and gets paid by the word and to watch her type is amazing, truly a blur of fingers! good luck though, if you can imagine it, it can happen!!

play the game "Typing of the Dead" its really fun and doesn't feel like you are practicing your speed typing. (it is essentially a port of the 'House of the Dead' you see in arcades but typing instead) you can turn up the difficulty and improve as much as you want.

I know what you mean, I am in the same place you are. My advice would be to try to use a typing program to get better...I think I am going to be taking my own advice as well =]
