I have a small truck that i want to put a pretty good sound on it. I have 2 subwoofers 15" and each have 800 watts, i also have 5 speakers each have 400 watts and 2 tweeters that have 250 watts... the only thing i need now are the amplifiers and i and still confused on which one I should get. Which model of amplifiers should i use? how many amplifiers? and how much power should i have on each? or should I buy the amplifiers that have bridges?

quite a big install you going for their. first off you are going to need fard caps. 1 will do but will need to be about 3-4farads. This will helps take the strain off your battery when the bass starts pumping or you will find your truck stops pullin.
I would agree with a 2000watt 5 channel amp for the speakers. i would run the tweeters off the headunit if they havnt got crossover boxes to run with a set of speakers.

personnaly i would never push my luck by over powering speakers. So a 1600watt amp max would be fine for the 2 subs. Subs sound best on mono amps aswell so it might be worth looking into getting 1 but do cost a tad more than normal amps

hope that helps

amplifiers don't have bridges. you can "strap" or bridge some of them to achieve a lower ohm rating.

The first thing you need to look at is the RMS rating on your speakers. Peak watts mean nothing.

Get a 5 channel amp for your speakers. Lets say they have an RMS rating of 75 watts and a PEAK rating of 400, push around 200 to them if you can afford the amp, and the speaker brand is trustworthy. That would be a 1000 watt RMS amplifier.

If your subs have an RMS rating of 800 watts, you can probably push 1000 to each sub depending on the brand and model. HOWEVER, if they peak at 800 watts, the RMS would probably be closer to 300-400 watts, so you would only need maybe a 700 watt amplifer versus a 2000 watt amplifier. RMS ratings mean everything, that goes for the amps too.

If an amp peaks at 2000 watts but has an RMS rating of 1000 watts at 1 ohm, disregard the peak power and go by the RMS rating, as you will rarely, if ever, achieve the peak power output.

ok. you need ti make sure you are using seperate amplifiers for your subs and for the rest of the speakes. this ensures you get much better quality of sound. for a sub you need for a rough guide line about half the power of the peak on the sub in amp power. this will ensure youget good crisp bass. for the pther speakers i would get yourself like a 6 channel amp kicking out about 900 - 1000 W which should be adequate. themake of amplifier is a matter of freferance i would only tend to stick to the bignamessuch as vibe, kenwood, pioneer, sony etc etc. and cross oveers. the onlycross over you will need to make is for the subwoofers to give them more power. this is where you put thespeaker cable positive on the positive on onechannel and the negative on theother channel. so in fact you are using 2 channels for one speaker and there for twice the power. hope this helps you out a little bit!!!

Well the best thing to do is list all the model numbers on the speakers so a pro can see if they are 2 or 4 ohm and put together the best amp set up for what you have available... Let me know I will get you prices and a set up that will work best for what you have...

just wondered how you have all these speakers?? if you have gone and bought all these you must have some idea of what you want to do, other wise why buy so many? if you really don't then.... you must start by matching all your underpants and vests so you dont get mixed up. best to go to a decent car audio shop and get them to have a look at what you have got and see what they say.
