A Boxer. I don't have kids, but when some of our friends bring their kids over our Boxer loves them, he won't leave them alone, he constantly licks them and tries to play with. He's really good with kids.

I have two children and we just adopted a 6 month old lab five months ago and he is wonderful with my kids. Labs are very loving and are easy to train. I really like the breed alot I have just been amazed with him since we have had him. But the best thing to do is research all the breeds you like and make sure you look into what type of temperment they have with children. I would highly suggest a Lab with no doubt at all.

Over the last 25 years I have had almost every breed of dog...I always have at least three at a time..there is just something about the companionship. Anyhow, to get to your question...I think the breeds that were the best with my kids growing up were a Maltese and our Golden Retriever. We have a 3 and 9 year old and we are also the neighborhood "kid hang out" place and she (the Golden) is always so patient with the baby sitting on her and always tugging on her and she is always right in there playing with the older kids....good luck!

There are so many wonderful puppies out there, who can really say? Labs make wonderful dogs for kids, they are faithful and wonderful dogs. They love water and will put up with about anything a kid will do to them. How much room do you have? Can you deal with a big dog or do you need a little one? Jack Russels are small dogs that have an abundance of energy, a great combination with kids...
Maybe go to the AKC website (American Kennel Club) and research different breeds. All dogs are wonderful, its the training and the handling that make them bad or good!

I think most breeds that are raised with children are good with children. However, if your children are young, I would go with a medium or large size breed. Also, don't rule out adopting a mixed breed from a shelter. I adopted a lab / border collie mix a year and a half ago and he is every bit as wonderful as my lab.

For hte most part, it's not usually the dog which is hte problem. It is the kids. After breeding dogs for years, I learned that. There are lots of dogs which are great with kids, but they all need training. REsearch your breeds first, and remember that every dog needs training. The more excitable the kids are, the more energy the dog is going to pick up from them (common problem with labs and people hwo don;t research first.). Best solution, obedience classes, and trianing your kids!

different dogs have different personalities. you need to pick one that will fit with your family's personality. you will get just as many answer as there are breeds of dogs. go to the local shelter and interact with the dogs. take your family with you. you will find out which breed you like and who knows maybe it will even be a nice mix breed.

I have a golden retriever who is a gem....a gentle giant easy to train...little dogs can be fragile with kids and crabby, I love my golden she's the best...plays well with the kids, just remember to train it so your kids are the pack leader...she will respect them.
