We got married in August at the arboretum. If you have around 20 guests you can get married anywhere in the arboretum (there is a super cool spot with a little deck down by a small pond...I don't know what it's called but the arboretum staff will be able to help you). Or, if you have more than 20 guests you can rent out the meeting room that is adjacent to the visitor center. That's what we did...we had the wedding outside on the patio on the south end of the building, and the reception was inside the meeting room. It was very beautiful and the arboretum staff were very easy to work with. Congratulations! Good luck! BTW, the official name of the place is Washington Park Arboretum and the visitor center is the Graham Visitor Center.

I LOVE Seattle! Here are a couple of ideas.
1. Get married on the beach. You could do Myrtle Edwards, Edmonds beach, Shilshole Bay or out on Alki. The weather can be bad, but there is usually a nice weekend or two in Early October/late September.
2. Get a list of your local parks/rec departments that have covered picnic areas. I know the Edmonds City Park has covered areas and there's one in Renton that called Koulon (or something like that) that has multiple covered areas. Having a wedding in the park is free, and the covered areas to rent are often pretty cheap, too. If you get married in late september/early October you may not have too much competition for the covered areas, either.
3. Consider going to a nursery (I know there are few out on Whidbey Island and also in the Paulsbo area). A beautiful park is Fort Casey out on Whidbey Island. It's huge and beautiful. They also have buildings that can be rented out for the day.
4. You also might check with the parents of your friends. Perhaps one of those families have a large yard where you could have your wedding.
5. The senior center on the waterfront in Edmonds isn't very expensive (but the building is pretty small) and I've been to a wedding and two receptions there.
Best of luck to you!

First wedding? Don't be cheap. Spend a little. Try San Juan Island. Beautiful place.. Maybe Wood duck pond on San Juan Island. Look it up. (google it).. Nice place.. It's north of Seattle. Seattle is a great city..
