No one should be deprived of the medication they need. All the major pharmaceutical companies have programs to provide necessary medication to people who can't afford it.
When a person has a mood disorder, it is often almost impossible to "get it together" enough to contact these companies. Perhaps as a friend, you could help with this project.
Most communities have some sort of public mental health facility that can provide psychiatrists and counselors at low or no cost to those in need. They also may be able to help with finding med's.
Thank you for reaching out to try and help your friend.

Do this: call the state health department and explain the situation. They can lead you to one kind of free consultation or another, which in turn, can lead you to a program run by virtually any of the major drug companies, in which all sorts of things are provided on a sliding scale, depending on income. There is also a good chance that they can lead him to a doctor who will give him samples for quite a while. There are a wide range of options available; just start with the obvious information resource and keep a notebook as you go. Sooner than you think, you'll find some tangible aid. Its a complex process in some ways, but its also finite, so take heart. It can be made better with a few phone calls and a little footwork. You're doing a good and sensible thing; just call and set it in motion. It'll get better.

Bipolar. i've got faith in spirituality; I attempt many stuff to enhance my journey. Meditation, yoga, countless remedies. maximum religions look there to provide up people asking questions or exploring new reviews, so i don't have a lot time for faith. I even have learnt from those strands of Buddhism and Hinduism that are no longer in keeping with ideals. I even have won from some new age communities - yet am very careful of ways people prefer to construct theories which quickly replace into dogmas. i don't be attentive to if reincarnation is real. I even have previous life thoughts - on the different hand, i won't be able to be sure they're real. I each so often regard the full of life as divine. this would not relatively say something with reference to the character of the universe - extra approximately me. If asked, I regularly call myself an atheist or a pantheist.

Most counties have a mental health clinic or hospital. And they usually charge on a sliding fee (according to your income).
If he is Bi polar and OCD he is going to have a very hard time holding down a job with out having the support of a therapist and medication. Look under metal health in your phone book. Start there and just keep calling to you get where you need to be. Tell them the situation and if they cant help they will refer you to someone who can. Don't give up til you get what he needs.
Good luck and God bless.

Most towns (except for really small ones) have community counseling centers that help people with low income or no income. There are often Psychiatrists available who can provide treatment, many even provide free medication samples because the drug reps give them all sorts of medications to hand out. Many walk-in clinics have general doctors and nurse practitioners that can treat on a low-income basis. Most doctors in walk-in clinics are willing to give samples of meds to people who can't afford it. There are some clinics that can help you apply for what is called "indigent medication programs." Sometimes a doctor has to complete a form about the patient that can result in the medication company providing free medication - this can be a lengthy process however. If your friend has a regular doctor, see if he can get free samples from him or her. What about the professional that prescribed him the medication in the first place? would that professional be willing to help him out or give him free samples?

You can call a local doctor, hospital, or mental health facility that can point you in the right direction for finding a free clinic. I know resident doctors who also work at free clinic, so depending on your income level, you can get free or affordable therapy visits. Also, depending on what drugs are prescribed, most free clinics, or therapists for that matter, have free samples.
Also be sure to check out http://www.pparx.org or call them at 1-888-4ppa-now. Depending on your income level, you can get many medications for free.
