surround sound from vcr to tv to speaker?

OK heres what I got. A VCR with IN audio and OUT ouputs. I have my xbox 360 plugged into the in jacks and a speaker plugged in to out jacks when I plug the in all i get is a buzzing sound from the speaker...What should I do

VCR audio out jacks are LINE level output and need amplification. Are the speakers you are hooking up amplified? If not, then you will need to add an amplifier.
