My friend is having trouble explaining that she can't translate slang very well online to a guy she is dating. How would you explain it? Is there a term that describes slang or a word? Thanks.

"Argot" or "jerga."
"Argot" originally derives from French, and is also used in English to describe slang or an informal dialect, so it's probably a more common term than "jerga."

Im not sure, i think it would like someone saying a word is just a saying for another word. and in the case it would be "es un decir".

Argot is ok, but you can call it "jerga" too, or "lenguaje callejero" (street language)...
