the less you know the better off you are.............

It means you're better off not knowing something. Like, for example, not knowing anything about your significant other's past relationships. Or, for another example, me not knowing anything about our financial status--my husband balances the checkbook, and I always ask him before I write a check to be sure we can afford it. I'm sure our finances are very tight, since we are paying off a lot of debt, but I don't worry about it at all. My ignorance of how much we owe makes me not have to worry about it at all, so in a sense, makes me happy, which is what the term "bliss" means.

The full saying goes "Where ignorance is bliss tis folly to be wise" Meaning if ignorance(no understanding) is bliss(kind of like e) tis folly(unwise) to be wise(understand). Meaning sometimes you'll be happier not understanding what's really going on, or something like that.

i dont think it's meant to be sarcastic, but i dont think it is necessarily a compliment. I think some people are too smart for their own good and sometimes the most intelligent people are the most tormented and stress out the most about stuff. If you are ignorant or at least naive, you dont even think about the deep stuff and so you can float about without too many cares or stresses. dont stupid people tend to be amongst the happiest in the world?

The complete statement is Ignorance is bliss and it makes some people happy. Means, people say or do something dumb and it makes them happy to do so. (If you do something dumb it makes you happy but,the other people think you are ignorant for doing it).

What you don't know can't hurt you. Many people are extremely happy with thier life till something happens and shatters it for them they could've lived thier life forever in "bliss" had they never became aware of whatever it is that shattered their life thus '"ignorance is bliss"

When you are stupid, you don't realize how stupid you are.

Take a cheating spouse...you are not unhappy until you find out...

So your ignorance of a cheating spouse is bliss.

Or a mentally challenged person is so happy all the time, because he/she has no worries and is ignorant of alot of what is going on around them (my friends and Iwere just talking about this!)

Sometimes knowing something can make you frustrated because you don't' like it, and you can't change it.

If you can't change it, should you really care about it?

If you didn't know about it- you would still be in the same capacity to do nothing- but, at least, you would not feel the frustration and sadness of being unable to change what you dislike.

It means 'what i don't know about, can't harm me' but it's a somewhat false assumption as there are many things (natural disasters for example) which can harm us regardless of whether we are aware that they can happen or not.
It is also a way of saying 'I think I'm better off NOT knowing, so don't tell me'

well bliss is supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment, and so that doesn't make sense to me, but some people like to be ignorant i guess, it makes them happy and feel good about themselves. im sure there is another way of putting it.
