Here is my update: Use a thick paddle brush and some smoothing cream. You can also buy special straighteniong products. Before using these you should wash your hair. Use the products as directed while blow drying your hair on a low setting. This should help make wavy hair straight. I also know that if you leave your hair in a tight pony tail it can help a lot to straighten your hair. You may also choice to use a gel. Gels seem to really help (for me). I could never fully straightened my hair since it was very curly (unless I used a straightener). However, it should help you since your hair is wavy. Check the sites to get some ideas of the products I'm talking about. I'm told (but never really tried it) that the shampoos for straightening really work well.

If your hair is very wavy you can get a Japanese straightening done at the salon. there is lots of info on the web just type Japanese straightening. also try a well made high end straightener. I blow dry my hair holding the blow dryer above my head pointed straight down on low heat. I have fine straight hair and it is naturally straight. this seems to reduce my fly-aways. also try a little kukui nut oil, it give a shine like no other. personally wavy hair is soooo pretty enjoy it.

Japanese hair relaxing, which lasts about six months. For a cruel, cruel price of $400 a pop, you can have the glossy, stick-straight hair that the Japanese are famous for-- well, for half a year. Still, if you've got money to blow, you don't want to waste time, and you don't mind them putting a lot of sticky yellow goop in your hair... it's great.

it is possible to blowdry your hair straight, it can take a while though. and sometimes it works better if your have a special bkowdryer were you can attach one of those rolly bristle brushes. Also use some kind of syrum or spray
straigteners do work the best though

I think the only other way is a perm...or if your hair is pretty much straight some gel, water, and skills. Trust me only try the gel and water thing if you have skills or your hair will look a hot mess. ~Monicurl

Yes, you actually can blow dry it straight:
Try this site: http://www.virtualhaircare.com/virtual%20salon/blow%20and%20style/blowdrystraight.html
Also, you can get chemicals put into it at the salon to make it straight.

Good luck.
