Warriors are not always lucky enough to be in a combat situation. Even the absence of regular training is boring. When boredom sets in it seems like the whole world sucks.

We need more wars to keep our Marines happy.

Everyone is right about it being Apocalypse Now. The song is Richard Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries". The movie, interestingly enough, is based on the book "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad. The movie is great, the book is even better, I suggest watching the movie and then reading the book. Same subject matter, but with Africa playing the role of Vietnam and the East Indian Trading Company playing the part of the US Army. Here's a little trivia: towards the end of the movie the photojournalist comes out screaming, "It's all right! It's all right!" That was sampled by Ministry and used at the start of the song "New World Order". Oh, and Conranger1, if the movie is 99.05% bullshine, and 0.05% fact, that's only 99.1% of a movie. Where's the rest of it?

As a former Marine, I can tell you that the "suck" is used to define just how crappy things can get in the corps at times. It really doesnt stand for anything, other than describing the situation you are in at the time. Its like knowing that things are all screwed up and there is nothing you can do about it but ***** and go on.

Not suc, but 'suck.' It means you're in an unpleasant or at least tough situation. A similar saying is, 'sucks to be you.'

I heard about it, did not go see it, every one that told me about it thought it was not worth going to see.

It doesn't stand for anything. It is "suck" not "S-U-C."
Suck is a shorthand form of "sucky." Sucky is an adjective akin to "horrible" or "lame" or "crappy." it is akin to saying, "welcome to the craphole."
