many religious groups prefer that their children marry within their tradition. Zoroastrians have a high degree of expecting this from their children. The same is true of most Amish sects. I have known groups within Catholic and Protestant Christians who put a lot of pressure on their children to marry people from their tradition.

Many Hindu's, Islamists, India Christians, and Zoroastrians practice arranged marriages. These would not be possible if the younger generations did not wish to cooperate. I know a number of people who beleive that this is the preferable method of choosing a lifelong partner.

Hindus definitely advocate arranged marriages, though I'm not too sure it's a requirement for Hindus. It's just understood that if you're a good Hindu, you'll have an arranged marriage.

Also, same state in India, same language, same caste, agreeable nakshatrams (Indian equivalent of zodiacs) all those things are factors as well.

In Islam arranged marriages are against Islam. Muslim women can only marry Muslim men. A woman gets to choose her husband in Islam. If a Muslim woman or Muslim man is forced into an arranged marriage the parents are not practicing Islam correctly. Muslim men can marry a Christian or Jewish woman IF they can't find a Muslim woman. Yes it's better if both partners are Muslims and it's better if the Christain or Jewish woman converts to Islam.

Catholics want you to convert to their religion before marriage. Maybe Muslims do too, I don't know that though.

No others that I know of.
