Yahoo answers is great for getting opinions! some are good, and some are bad.

I found your question because I monitor ALL dalmatian question on y! answers.. I chime in when I have an opinion.

My dal puppy (6 months now) eats well! We've used Science Diet & Chicken Soup dog food (2 great brands). He does not need supplements or additional vitamins. He is healthy and happy, and gets plenty of vitamins in his normal food. Puppy food is specially formulated for puppies! Extra vitamins and carbs, and what ever else the pups need.

If your pup is feeling sickly, he needs a vet! Probably not simple multivitamins, possibly much more.

Dosing a little one (pup, kitten or child) is very difficult, Don'
t consider handing out pills. You and I are both not doctors.

Do the math, a dog size multivitamin would need to be reduced by what percent to be correct for a little puppy... I can't do that calculation! Nor should you!

Bottom line answer. NO!

No, puppies don't need multivitamins. That's why there is puppy food. They are specially formulated w/ all the nutrition your pup needs. As he grows into an adult his needs change. Therefore you switch him to adult food. Science diet & Eukanuba have a great large breed puppy food. It's specially formulated for dogs that will be large when they reach maturity. Multivitamins are a waste of your time & money.

Before starting your puppy on any supplements, talk to your veterinarian. If you are feeding a high quality puppy food, ie Eukanuba or Iams, you should not need additional vitamins. Have fun with your pup. Don't forget to get him fully vaccinated and neutered. Good luck.

Absolutely - I started my Bloodhound pup on vitamins at that age and boy did he develope! Make sure to get a good veterinarian recommended multivitamin, don't waste your money on those sold in the grocery store.

I'd keep the vitamins going until your pup reaches maturity, and then if you are working him hard or are showing him, you would want to keep them going.

Good luck with your pup!

Asking your vet would be the best thing to do. You've invested the money in a beautiful dog, it's wise to spend the money on a good vet.

Good Luck, enjoy the pup.

No, if he is on a good quality dry large breed puppy food he doesn't need to be on an extra vitamin supplement (and giving one can cause more harm than good).
